find out how TX treats titles after an ins. co. calls it salvage - states differ

in fact, some states are used to "wash" salvage titles off of cars...

if that works out, then have it inspected by somebody really good with both water damage and 911s - Ed Mayo is (or was?) in your state (maybe Austin?)

only then should you accept the salvage and not get the car back

it sounds like a lot of work but may pale in comparison to the effort you will spend fighting the ins. co. for a decent payment

To each their own, but I would have put the appreciating asset on the lift to save it and left the common everyday depreciating asset on the floor.

How much does the insurance company want for it? Somebody needs to save this car from the crusher.

If you ever use this, it seems like the best $250 one can ever spend.

OP, sorry for the loss, peril and tremendous stress you must have been through. I can't imagine. Sorry some here feel the need to try and demonstrate their perceived value by Monday morning quarterbacking your decisions. I'm sure you did what you needed to do to protect yourself and family under the circumstances.

Wow, I wonder if they actually thoroughly inspected the car or just took its insured value, applied a formula based on how deep the car was submerged and declared it a loss.

I would have had a stated value on the targa, say for 50k and that way you can replace it, if you didnt I would have put the volvo on the ground and had that replaced much faster.
