Finding a front end for a 996 C2 2002?
Hi!
I was wondering where I could possibly find a used front end for a damaged 996 Carrera 2002? Here are the pics:

<img src="http://www.mega-logic.net/photos/damaged2.jpg" alt=" - " />
Is 23 000$ US a good price? What do you think about the feasibility of the project?
Thanks!

Judging by the doors, and roof it looks like it sustained a hard blow to the front. It will need a lot more than just a new front end. I know in fact that just the sheet metal for the front of the car will run $6000.00, that's for the under structure that connects to the front bulkhead.
Looks like a lot of project. But you would get a lot of bodywork experience. If you are looking to get into a 996 for cheap, try picking up a high mileage 99 model in the high 30's.
If you decide to go the route of fixing the car, you'll still have a car that is tough to get rid of do to the salvage history.
Let me know if you need help sourcing a cheap 996.
The car is worth more as a parts car.

the problem with these wrecked "repairables" is that if they were really fixable (granted anything is fixable with enough money), they would have been repaired by insurance. If insurance wont touch it, I really wouldn't want to either.
I looked into finding a wrecked Porsche, but after some thought, it was more nightmare than its worth.IMHO

Hello Yan,
You could have more answers in the 996 forum. As the others said, You can see from outside the work to be done, but, from the inside...? Mechanical, geometrical parts..
It's possible, but this cases are like lottery you can win or lost a lot of $$...Good luck!

I have been told that once a 996 is slammed hard, they are very difficult to get right again. In California, a totaled car will have a salvage title making it very difficult to find insurance.
Getting the tub straight will be a real nightmare. It is not as simple as cutting the bad parts off and welding the new parts on.
However, if you want the 993 car look, by a 69 or later straight 911 and add the fiberglass 993 pieces to the car...that will be a lot cheaper than trying to glue a crashed 996 back together.
