Default Paint Restoration Options

I'm thinking about getting a Carrera repainted getting it to like new condition where paint depth is the same on all panels. A couple of the panels have been spayed in the past and car is littered with rock chips. What are some options? I've seen pictures of all panels off strip and repaint. I've heard about glass off resprays. If the car is intact and in good shape, what's the best option?

Drive it. My car has four different paints on it....or five if you count the rock-guard front valance. Factory did original, original owner did right rear quarter, I did the duck, and later did the rear bumper. Nobody has even said a word to me about the differences....and yes, I mean I sprayed the paint myself on the side of my house.

My car is littered with rock dings. Thousands of them. Each one is evidence of it's righteous past.

Down to bare metal windows out is the only way to what you want. Budget $12-15k.

Or you could spend less than that on everything I've done to my car and end up with a car that is what it is supposed to be....

RS/RSR interior and seats
930 brakes
Duck, bumperette and skirts delete
Chip, injectors, exhaust
Coilovers, raised de-cambered spindles

Yes you could, but who is to say that the OP isn't also going to do those things or they are already done? I tend to just stick to the question they asked and wait for more feedback as the thread progresses.

Ya, that's why you are GTgears and I'm on my hands and knees setting tile this week instead of snorkeling near the equator.

I don't think Loveland is where you think it is.

I've gone through a round of mechanical work: suspension rebuild adding bilsteins, steering rebuild, valve adjustments, major tune-up, etc. I'll probably do more once I drive it some. Injector, exhaust, and chip are next on my list. My goal is to first get into a new-ish car, drive it a while, then make mechanical improvements.

I'm probably going with the strip to glass and metal exterior refresh.

They are only original once. Don't forget that when weighing this. Going bare metal is much more expensive. Even if a paint meter makes it look the correct depth someone looking closely for a respray will find evidence. Theres really no roi on most Carerras. Would love to see pictures and further explanation of the overall car.

I'm not looking for original paint. A couple of panels have already been resprayed. I just want a like-new car. Will post before and after photos when car is close to done.

yep. and if you're in CA more than that, less to ship to be done, probably.

OP: what year is your car and what are you going for ?
