1988 911 Rehab
I am embarrassed to admit but I am finally pulling out of the garage my old 1988, 911 Cab. It has not run in a number of years and needs a complete overhaul that will hopefully, not break the bank. I would greatly appreciate any recommendations for mechanics to take on this project. Thanks in advance for any advice.

1988 911 Rehab in Atlanta
I apologize as I am new to this site. I am located in Atlanta and want to find the best/reasonable mechanic to rehab my 911 that has now sat for many years. I appreciate any advice.
Sincerely,
Reid

If your mechanically inclined I'd suggest you have at it yourself. With sites like this and pelican you would do fine and it would be very rewarding.

Did it run when you stored it? I'm wondering why you don't just drain all the old gas out, and have a go with a new battery and fresh gas.

When I lived in Atlanta I always had Terry Girone at Deutschland Automotive work on my car. His mechanical skills were impeccable. I haven't lived there for 20 years, but I do have a good Porsche buddy that does. He uses German Car Repair, Inc. Alan Kidson is the owner. I've never had my car there, but I've seen the work they do and would trust them with my car. Prices seem very reasonable too.
If you want to trailer your car to South GA, I use Pete's Foreign Otto in Valdosta, GA. Tiger Berard is the owner and they specialize in air-cooled 911s. They do amazing work and stand behind everything they do. They've been working on my cars since 2009 and I've always been more than happy with their work.
Hope this helps.

Undoubtedly rewarding and awesome to do yourself. However, also expensive, time consuming, sometimes frustrating and did I mention time consuming? If your time is valuable, and you value things done correctly, there is a strong case for a good Porsche specialist to do the heavy lifting, then doing the smaller odd jobs yourself as they come up. I just dropped almost 20k in a rebuild/rehab and new suspension, and stuff still pops up all the time for me to fiddle with.. food for thought.

Thank you
I will call the few you suggested and greatly appreciate the guidance. In answer to the question about did I run it? Unfortunately and sadly, no. If anyone else has a thought, please chime in, thanks again
