Curious to see what you find out, and all ears.

DEMs are what is holding up the U.S. GT3 press cars, all four of which were ordered with them.

I was told they cannot be retrofitted, but I do not fully trust that assessment.

I think it will depend how many inputs they need to monitor to control the mounts and whether the wiring harness and sensors exist in non-factory-equipped cars. Most manufacturers today don't bother with leaving those on a car if it isn't going to be built with the option.

Thank you for the update. Keep the info coming. My dad and I are Anxious to find out if we will be able to retro fit them into his car and how much it would cost to add the mounts.

Thanks.

i'll be very interested if anyone can tell the difference.

not as a matter of vibration, but if it translates, anywhere, into real-world significance.

Interestingly enough, I was poking around under the rear hood of my .2 (July build) this weekend which has the standard mounts.

If memory serves there are unused wired plugs on both sides of the engine compartment just above to the mounts themselves.

Assuming these wires are tapped into right electronic brain, it seems possible that they are in fact there to ease the retrofit.

I see these as a future troublesome part. I have a theory that these are going to be like the 1st Gen PCCB's... quickly changed out for more traditional parts.

Looks like you have two assumptions, at least one of which is incorrect (in my experiences), instead of a theory.

The folks at Suncoast in Florida told me when I picked my GT3 up last month that they have researched this and that the active mounts can be added, and that the wiring is already in place.

Yes assumption works and I admit it could be a bad one.

I was referring to the 1st Gen PCCB's. The ones that came on 996 GT3's. The ones known to crack and fail. I realize forums tend to over exaggerate the issue.

My intention was not to offend.

Like all assumptions, good or bad, time will be the deciding factor.

I had two sets of Gen I pccbs on different cars and never a problem. I know guys who had incessant problems (poor driving?) and some who had problems (plain ole wear?) after significant track miles.

IMO, Gen I got a bad wrap and some wanted Porsche to pay for their track abuse. Gen I in warrantable use were bullet proof.

No offense taken, but sometimes ancedotes gain a credibility worthy of the bible.

Agreed,

PCCB's have the same wrap as IMS Bearings and RMS leaks.... way over exaggerated

Default Any new info?

Hi Gents,

Is there any more recent info on the dynamic engine mount (PADM) retro-fit? Can some one in Florida inquire at Suncoast for us? In another post Sharkwerks said they may be looking into it too, Gents?

After over 5000km and 4 or 5 track days I believe these mounts will certainly improve things in two noticable ways (soft side and hard side):

1) They should insulate from the natural and very noticable engine vibration at 2800 to 3200 rpm.

and 2) They should keep the driveline tighter under heavy aceleration where one can definately feel thing move, especially that quick shift from 2nd to 3rd gear.

Cheers!
Doug N.
