My "Sharkified" 997.2 GT3
Well, I finally bit the bullet and started down the slippery slope of orienting my GT3 more towards a track set-up. Today, I dropped the car off at Goldcrest Motorsports for a track alignment/corner balance and a Sharkwerks Center Bypass with 89mm light weight exhaust tips install.
Many thanks to Bob, Steve and Adam at Goldcrest for working with me to get this done ahead of the DE at Sebring! These guys are the real deal and a pleasure to work with. As a side note, the black and white cup cars are the ones which will be used at the just announced PSDS Cup Car experience. The black one is a 2010 model and the white one is a just off the boat 2011 car. Awesome
Also, a big thanks to Alex at Sharkwerks! The sound is awesome!
Here are a few pics.

Yes those are R888...the much hated tire of Rennlist. However the tire I run because I drive to the track and the only tire I can find that is a good dual purpose tire in R-Comp rubber.

They're R888's and I have no idea how they track yet - other than Izzone's comments recently. I am running them at Sebring this weekend, so, I'll let you guys know after that.
Wish me luck!

I ran one set of R888 in the GT3 RS and I just threw in the garbage bin my 3rd set from the Fiat. I'm absolutely done with Toyo R888, I kept running them because I already had them, but I will not buy them ever again.
R888 are the worse tire for the money for the following reasons:
1) If used on the streets, they will heat cycle every time you take the car out on a warm day (not even a hot day) driving like an average Joe. I keep a pyrometer and tire gauge in my car at all times, pressure will go up 8 psi just on the highway, and tread temperature in the 130-160 degrees F, just driving on the highway.
2) at 24HC they are garbage. Actually, they're dangerous because the grip falls off so bad that I don't recall a street tire this bad, like driving on ice. In the Fiat, it means going sideways on on-ramps and out of tight intersections on street driving at normal legal speeds. Don't even try them on the track when they are this bad.
However, I found a happy replacement for the R888, a true street tire, not a track tire, that gives me the grip I want on a practice tire, last a long time, produces decent lap times, it is affordable, and heat cycles don't make a difference at all. Actually, I think they are getting faster with age. I'm using them in 2 of my cars, and I'm just getting another set for a 3rd car, they work in the rain too. I ran this tire on semi-controlled environments (2 big racetracks, a small racetrack, and a few National level autocrosses), using my Traqmate, against Hoosier A6 and R888. The tire matched or exceeded the R888 performance.
