@Soul Performance I was afraid that this muffler would only work for the North American market mounts.
Just for the record, the other mounting system is not only for EU cars , is also for ROW cars like mine.
Thanks to bother in offering the conversion alternative for EU/ROW cars but for me this means a deal break. I wish you could provide two variants of the muffler instead.
Just for curiosity here , I thought that the Helmotz (or J pipe) would've been the winner choice to cancel all the drone at low rpm... what results lead to ditching this option ?

As for the Helmholtz, we tried over a dozen different lengths and volumes of these with and without resonators across several different exhaust designs. They simply did not get remotely close to what we considered a reasonable cabin presence in the car off throttle in peak drone range of 2000-2600rpm. If you're sensitive to drone, the car needs a well designed muffler in a valved exhaust design. If you're not sensitive to drone you might as well ditch the idea of a valved exhaust system, save yourself a nice chunk of change, and go right into our Race Exhaust.
The last time I posted was right after I had a chance to drive the car before the complete system was installed. The system at that point was missing the over axle pipes so only the valve controller and the valued exhaust was installed. I honestly could have taken the car home and would have been happy with the improvement over factory PSE. Well, I've had the completed system (value controller, valued exhaust and over axle pipes - the street package) for almost two weeks now. Soul has created some great videos inside and outside of the car with variations of valves open and valves closed so I'll spare you the details about what he has already documented and skip to the experience of driving the car under various conditions:
- Highway driving
- Cabin sound at highway speeds (70 MPH+) is surprisingly good...it is definitely louder than the factory noise level but still allows you to have conversations comfortably. Now if you step on it, you are reminded that the system is there. I noticed a similar behavior at normal neighborhood speeds...its loud when you want it to be and manageable off throttle...it's the same on the highway.
- Droning: I had a hard time finding any droning to report. I have done about 50 miles of highway driving (staying between 2200 and 3500 RPM at 60-70 MPH) specifically centered on understanding if there is any droning its not there. What was interesting was that I could induce a faint amount of droning right at about 2800 RPM but only with the factory PSE enabled (i.e. the valve controller turned off). Bottomline, droning is not really present and I don't plan on turning off the valve controller so the net of this is positive.
- Horsepower
- I have not dyno'd the car with the new system, but there for sure is a horsepower gain. You can physically feel the engine breathing better...the throttle response was good before but it is even better now.
- Pops and crackles
- There is a nice benefit of the over axle pipes....the return of a bit more pops and crackles on upshift and downshift. It even has a new pop on startup. This is all a welcomed surprise after driving the car before the over axles were installed.
Best regards,
John Gaydos

Kyrocks, I'm also in the DFW area and have a 718 spyder with Soul Performance Race Exhaust but with resonators. Not surprised you experienced lots of boom and drone. My exhaust with the resonators definitely has a boom/drone at 2K to 2.8K but it's not horrible....can't imagine going without resonators unless the car was 100% track focused. I'm willing to put up with a little boom/drone to have that incredible sound up top. Also, there is absolutely zero drone and very quiet cruising around below 2K RPM. I will say that my neighbor is well aware of cold start ups but once warmed up and cruising under 2K it's very quiet.
For your reference, the resonators certainly help take the edge off the drone but by no means is it eliminated. That said, in driving our Race Exhaust in it's different configurations I've found the drone level to be less than equivalent systems on the previous generation 987/981 Boxster/Caymans. For someone that subjectively doesn't mind having drone, I don't think it was "that bad". You'll find similar feedback from various owners running this system throughout the thread. For someone that doesn't like drone but likes the tone/pitch of our race system, they should consider pairing our Competition Over Axle Pipes with our Valved Exhaust System (our Sport Package), as the valves open flow path of this setup has similar sound/tone as our Race Exhaust but without the drawbacks. Please feel free to listen to the Race Exhaust Video and our Sport Package Video below (note, valves open is most relevant) to compare the sound of each.

John

For the record, I got in the Akrapovic group buy. But, I've canceled it. I've listened through a # of audio clips repeatedly, back to back. To my ears it sounds most of Akra's sound is coming from GPF-delete. Their muffler system sounds pretty conservative; very similar to OEM in sound characteristics and volume. I'm still getting their GPF-delete pipe. I'm now comparing Soul and JCR. Admittedly, Akra's Tail Pipes look pretty cool!

Since the release of our Race Exhaust (whether it be in this thread, on our product page, and on the phone with everyone we've chatted with) we've tried to be as transparent as possible about realistic expectations of drone on this system. I don't believe we have a single customer that has purchased our Race Exhaust with sufficiently understanding they are receiving a "Race Exhaust" as it is aggressive in it's design.

Sorry for the slow reply. The noticeable gain (and the wonderful new pops and crackles) definitely started after the OPF install. I can't get enough of this car now.
@Soul Performance I finally got a chance to really push the car with the NY 991 crew last weekend so I have a bit more feedback. Here is a summary:
- Sound....It was cold (we started off in the 40s) so I had to drive with the top up and the windows up most of the time. The sounds at high rev...all I can say is (heart emoji) (heart emoji) (heart emoji) and it still does not over power the cabin. Just the right level of music out the back that gets even better when you wind down the windows. I played music at times to see what that experience would be like at high revs and it was the right balance for me - you hear the engine clearly but the music is still enjoyable.
- Horsepower...No change in terms of what I reported before..the system is producing noticeable gains in horsepower and the car was super responsive to throttle input in the twisties.
- Droning...The minor droning that I reported before is still there but still faint (right around 2800 in 6th gear below 70 MPH). I paid particular attention to deceleration in the 2000 to 3000 RPM zone. I did find an addition area of droning right at 2500 in 4th or 5th gear on decel at low speed....you have to really look for this because that is not the gear you would normally select at that speed and it was only right at 2500. All and all, very happy with the system...very minor droning that frankly is outside the range of my driving style ...I don't plan on finding those two narrow zone much -

We have been successfully reusing the factory metal gaskets from Porsche for years without issue. I've reused the ones on my Cayman R about four times haha. We include the new hardware as shown on the first page of our ship sheet install guide here, and feel free to reuse your OEM gaskets with confidence. If you'd like new OEM gaskets, we are happy to source them from Suncoast Parts per request and send them in the box with the over axle pipes

Thanks John; appreciate the details. I was thinking about this very option. So, just to confirm, the Valved system produces less drone/boom through it's valves-open path than Race system with no valves? I'll have the valves permanently opened by unplugging the hose. From your description, it appears: Valved System with Valves Open > Race System with No Valves. In both the cases, I'll have GPF-delete.
For the record, I got in the Akrapovic group buy. But, I've canceled it. I've listened through a # of audio clips repeatedly, back to back. If they're in good shape you can reuse them. We've just found over the years that there is high likelihood of someone buggering up the hardware during removal and install of exhaust components, so we include all new hardware just in case you need it : )
