I have to say that now after 3 months with the car, it's pretty manageable and the feeling of the car sitting like a glove on your body is very very rewarding. So I'd say do bucket seats. I also track the car but no more than 2-3 times a year.
As for extras, like kart125 here mentioned, very personal. But I fully agree with your selection.
- I didn't order the LED headlights and left base. I kind of regret that as I really like the looks of the 4 dots around the projector as DLR. I'd do that today if I were ordering the car again.
- I also didn't order the dual zone A/C. I regret that more than the headlights. The standard A/C controls are totally manual like your 1980 Volkswagen would be. Has fan speed and temperature, that's all. In California where you wake up at 60 degrees and at 3pm it's 100 degrees, having to adjust the settings of fan speed and temperature constantly is a PITA.
- I'm glad you added the smoking package (even if you don't smoke). Right choice. I regret that too.
- Like Buckett76 said, the PCM with Navigation is probably expendable. It's nice if you want to use the awful Porsche track app. But there are other track recording apps out there with dongles you can plug on the OBDII port and get a better result.

Appreciate you rubber stamping my build
  • I do lot of backroad driving, maybe not too much at night times but there is a bit of back road leading to my home that is very dark and I hate turning high beams on/off multiple times within that small section. If not for that I would have gone for Bi-xenons but unfortunately they don't have high beam assist. I do prefer the look of Bi-xenon DRLs over LED DRLs. The staggered dots is not really my taste.
  • You are not alone on missing the dual zone AC. So many people have thought the same, including me. Fortunately for me, I am late to the party and so did not repeat the mistake.
  • My previous 981 Cayman dint have smoking package and no matter how much I cleaned, there is always little specs of dust inside which is very hard to get out. I am very OCD about it. My current 991 has it and I like the clean look of it even though its of no use to me and I am losing a cubby for change.

Nice! If the images on the configurator showed GB like your picture the debate for color would have been nil!

Somehow it looks a lot more real in your shot, well done!

(Both the car and the setting...)

:-)

I always thought the GB looked a bit dull in the configurator. Original is way better

I really love the leather trim inlay. Very discrete and blends well with the plastic parts on the console. I personally don't like excessive carbon fiber look, especially the glossy ones. But that's really of personal taste. Aluminum is great too, but I had that on my 997.2 GTS and with time you notice some scratches on them, probably from wiping dirt off with cloth so many times.
But in general I'd say my preference for leather was to let only the yellow accents stand out, otherwise it would be too much information for my taste.

I do agree with carbon fibre being too glossy. Sometimes it does feel almost fake/plastic-like. I have seen a couple of cars with leather inlays in person but they both had two tone leather interior and it did feel very upscale compared to both carbon fiber and aluminum. Does black leather inlays feel a bit more upscale in your opinion?

Good question I never thought of it that way. I think it does look more refined, in that sense. But also very subtle, especially on the black leather. If you look at the picture of the gear lever it is almost a transition from the side leather console trim to the plastic trim of the console. Same around the door pulls and the cup holder etc. Maybe on other leather tones it would look more luxury interior than sporty, but on black I think the black leather just gives a better look and finish to the already black parts.
