If a thief uses a knife to cut the top to get into a convertible, they now have to contend with a damaged top. Who would want a car like that to begin with?

 

It's not about taking the car it's about taking what is in the car if things are left in plain sight. I would suspect that if they are stealing the whole car they are not cutting the roof to do so.

 

Along a similar vein, I would be interested in some sort of storage bag for protection of the top if taking it out of the car. Any thoughts on that?

 

Good question for the price of the top you would think a storage bag / pouch would be included , maybe it comes with one ? Comments from current purchasers any bag ?

 

Not just convertible, any car. They can break the car window, grab whatever they want then leave in like 10 seconds, check those youtube videos lol. It is probably easier to break the window than to cut the top.

 

Manufacturer confirmed there is no storage bag / pouch when you order a Spyder cockpit cover ! The bxxls at that price you should expect a bag / pouch !

 

It seems it would work to me...if anyone gets one for a standard Spyder please let us know how it works out. I am not sure I would ever use one since the top goes up and down so easily on the standard Spyder but if had the top down and was only going to leave the car for 30 minutes or so, on a nice day, it might be worth it.

I hate to be critical of a fellow RLister but seriously.... The market for these covers (which are very well made and functional) is pretty much limited to the small subset of Spyder RS owners (and maybe a few "regular" Spyders) who will use these cars on a regular basis. They are hand made by a guy in Germany who is providing us lucky few who own these cars with something we obviously need. I'd love to have a matching storage bag or pouch, much like the one for the small rear piece that comes with the car. But to suggest that it's "ballsy" not to throw in such a bag--which would also have to be handmade--seems unfair. My cover stores nicely in a black cloth laundry bag I bought on Amazon for a few bucks.

 

when you order a burger from McDonald's it comes in a well designed paper bag so should the cover hahaha

 

So a hand-made product for a very specific and limited market is being compared to McDonalds?

 

Received my non lightweight Spydercover yesterday. Seems well made, you can install in less than 30 seconds and just as easy to remove. Will place in a duffle bag for storage.
