Default Trailer Tie Downs for GT4RS

How is everyone securing their GT4RS on a trailer? Looked at the Fabspeed pieces but you have to remove aero in the rear wheel area for them to work. Others have cut holes in the underbody and used the Rennline pieces. Any other ideas?

Straps thru the wheels work fine for me.

Thought about that but did not want to risk damage to wheel paint/powdercoating. May be only good option though.

Are you trailering to C&C or to track?

Pardon my ignorance as C&C is not that common where i live, but is this a serious question? There are people who undertake the hassle of loading / unloading a car on a trailer just to show it off at a parking lot somewhere?

But not to hijack this thread - this is how I trailer my 718 Spyder when I do not want its tyres to be eaten up by aggressive alignment I otherwise need to fully enjoy the best driving roads Europe has to offer at the beautiful island of Sardinia. This tie down method has both pros and cons, but it works well for me. I have no idea however whether the wheel-fender gap on GT4RS would allow it.

Mac’s makes very nice “axle straps” with sleeves that loop through wheel and are easy to connect to hooks on ratchet strap. Are very gentle on wheels.

Lots of padded wheel strap options out there for just this reason.

I tow cars around pretty frequently, no matter the value I’ve always used wheel straps and never damaged anything. I bought them Mac’s custom tie downs, the part you stick through the wheel doesn’t have any metal (like an axle strap) so it won’t hurt anything. Worth looking into

Since I have E Track in my trailer, I use tire straps. Wheel straps can also work if you're not concerned with potential wheel marring.

So I have the Mac's straps and put them through the wheels. I'm tying down to a futura trailer which has airline track along the side. I tie the car down and after about 30 minutes of driving I pull over and all 4 straps are loose. just like one click more on each ratchet. I've checked that I've got enough wraps around the ratchet and not too many. All I can figure is the wheels must be slightly rotating, there's no way the car could slide such that all four can go from tight to loose. Anyone have other thoughts on this? It happens everytime I tow. And I can't just do a stop or too and pull of and fix them, I have to drive a bit.

Default Trailer Tie downs

I hook into the lifting mounting points under the car. This securely connects the car frame to the trailer eliminating any bouncing of the car on the shocks/springs while on the trailer.

Normal. As the weight of the car moves front and back the straps stretch a bit, get wound tighter around the ratchet etc. Does not take a lot of movement for the strap to feel "loose".
