PPF and ceramic for a tracked 4RS
We're taking delivery of our 4RS this week. It will be tracked.
I'm planning to do full PPF, with 10 mil film in impacted areas and 8 mil film elsewhere. I'm also thinking of having an extra layer of film at the back of the front wheel wells and front of the rear wheel wells. I'm also thinking of having ceramic coating applied to the film, to make it easier to remove track rubber.
What do you all think of this? Which particular film are you using, and which is best?

I did an extensive search on films prior to my install, and landed on STEK being my top choice. My top two choices were STEK/EXPEL. STEK was tested to have higher clarity. It really boiled down to which shop I trusted most, and had great reviews- I was fortunate they also only used STEK films.
I’m not a huge fan of the idea of putting ceramic over top of PPF, but I can see how the application on a track used car would make more sense (to me). I track my car, and have EXOv5 applied. This is basically a high performance ceramic topper, and all the tar wiped off with ease. I did have to use Gyeon Tar for proper removal, the tar simply melted away once applied.

I went with Xpel which came with a 10 year warranty. My Xpel approved installer also applied their Fusion Plus coating which also has a 4 year warranty of some sort. I used Central Coast Autostyling out of Salinas. Very pleased with the job.

I have used Xpel in the past which is fine. But I am now using a Ceramic Pro Elite dealer, LI Vinyl in Medford, NY, for my GT4RS and other cars. I had a full wrap with extra layers on the vulnerable areas with Kavaca, Ceramic Pro's PPF. Then Ceramic Pro 9H ceramic coating. Has given great protection for lots of tracking. With the ceramic coating on top, rubber, dirt, etc. virtually wipes off with soap and water.

Pick the best installer first. While some films are better than others, the installer is the key. I have XPEL on my car and am happy with it.
I also did ceramic on top of the film.
I think your plan is good.

Couldn't agree more. The films are pretty similar, the quality of the installation is critical. Justin at LiVinyl in Medford, Long Island has done a fabulous job on my cars and now does all the high end cars (S/T, Sport Classic, GT3RS) for our local Porsche dealer. Plus, his prices are dramatically lower than "market" for all of his services.
For people out west, Luxe Automotive in Salt Lake City is excellent.
