Default EU Stop Sale on non-RS 718 Models 1 Jul 2024

Well, it looks like the end came too soon and way sooner than expected--wow!

Porsche discontinues sales of Boxster and Cayman “with immediate effect.”

I'm glad I snatched up a brand new 718 CGTS 4.0 last September, which I designed a year ago. The poor thing has only 80 miles on it so far.

This would surely leave anyone with an upcoming build slot in the US market to be a little concerned… and its not like there weren’t already “what if’s” in those peoples minds to begin with.

Great catch. Thank you. I was in a hurry. I'll probably remove the posts.

Wait, does that include GT4 RS and Spyder RS production? Is this only for EU designated vehicles or all 718 line up globally?

Nothing new here, been discussed many times past year or so.

Impacts EU and several Asian countries that adopted same regulations.

Think AU has some impact standards that’ll sunset 718s there later this year also.

Will continue in other markets for some time post EV release.

Someone posited while back that RSs can continue under a small production loophole in the EU mandate.

No. It's only about the European 718 up to the GTS model. These may no longer be sold in Europe because of the missing safety modules mentioned. The RS models are not affected due to the European small series regulation (certain maximum quantities for Europe and the respective countries).

I guess it will probably be even easier to order a car for ROW because Europe will no longer be competing on production slots.

But beware: anyone who intends to bring such a car from ROW to Europe later (export or import) will probably be in a bad position. This is because it was not fit for registration in Europe at the time it was put on the road, which means that it cannot be subsequently registered in European countries...

The end is near dear sweet Lord! There is still the mighty 911 soldiering on. I would get my GTS order in as quickly as possible. I don’t know how big the US market is compared to the others but if the Chinese also scream Uncle, it is game over. Can’t imagine Porsche continuing production just for NA.

It is just a matter of time . . . before 'drill baby, drill' is implemented and all these nefarious agendas fall by the waste side . . . including EVs

That won't happen in the EU, China or for that matter CA, NY etc. Can't imagine Porsche making special cars just for the rest of us ICE enthusiasts. We can't even get Porsches without the EU-mandated GPF filters (also required in China) and silenced exhausts that comply with EU noise regulations. AFAIK. I would get my 718 sooner than later.
