Genuinely curious. I understand that in most markets, additional dealer markup is illegal, but even in those markets, the waiting lists for the Spyder/GT4 were insane. If the market was willing to accept a 10-20-30k ADM on these models, why didn't Porsche increase the base price?

They did. And ADMs continued.
Base price GT4rs was announced as $143,050 in the US
Now it's $160,700. And options also more expensive.

Now a 4RS is $163k! Happy now?😁.
$1650 for sh...ty delivery process, $1500 for a "lottery-like" ED process.. Lucifer is just bored to wait for his out-of-state ordered car, lol.
I got my stripper 4RS finally! And we"re ready to "rock-n-roll" at Laguna. Should be able to do below 1:35? 😎. Did 1.38:27 in a "lowly Carrera S powered" 981 GT4 🤣🤣.

Already at the local dealer since last week

$140k in 2021 equates to $155k in today's money, so the increase isn't really that significant. However, my question is: If people are clearly willing to pay more than $163k, why doesn't Porsche raise the price to the point where demand meets supply?

Porsche thinks about the long term value of the brand and not just the cars it'll sell in the next 6 months. There has been an on-going fear of world-wide recession. Porsche doesn't want to ever lower prices (it would diminish the brand's value and set up expectations that prices could go down in the future delaying purchases), so it would be risky to raise prices and not sell what they plan to produce. Also keep in mind that ADM is different in different markets. Hot markets like Southern California will have more demand than supply. Also, dealers asking for high ADMs tend to have those vehicles sitting on lots longer than dealers selling for MSRP, so it's a calculated risk on their part for short term gain. Porsche doesn't want you to buy just one car, they want you to buy many cars over time.

What did you just say? I'm having trouble deciphering your post, lol. Did you pay for a 4 RS or you're just "venting" ?🤣

Thing is not all dealers charge ADM. In fact based on the allocation poll most aren't paying ADM.

Maybe read it more slowly? Never paid ADM, so no venting from me. Already have my GT4 and have a SRS on order, so not concerned about supply either.

Why is it that mostly CA guys advocate for a PAG price increase because of the ADM their stealers command from all the stupid 💰 in their locales? Posts on RL have shown that stealers will still add ADM regardless.

i think the idea is that if the price goes up then the value is baked in. If someone pays 60K adm instead of 30k adm, they feel more screwed than if everyone paid 45k adm.

I think it’s too late. This might have worked 10 years ago, but now all the dealers are corrupted and you’re right they will charge adm anyway.

Still pisses me off though. I’m glad and sad that my incoming Spyder RS will likely be my last new Porsche GT car purchase.

Things going all EV/hybrid will save me a lot of money…..

I actually paid MSRP for my Spyder, so I don't have any ulterior motive here.
I am relatively new to the US car market, and while doing some research I discovered that even 8 years ago, 981 Spyders had 10k+ ADM (I thought it is a covid thing), and I was honestly just curios how is it possible that this is the case for so long. I would expect that either PCNA put an end to this or PAG just increase the price enough that ADM will no longer work.

@Pokerhobo comment actually makes a lot of sense.

Anyone who thinks that dealers don't collude with each other when it comes to ADMs. Isn't interesting that most dealers have very similar ADMs? Why do you think that is? How did the GT3RS ADMs automatically start at $200k? One thing is for sure, it wasn't a number picked out of a hat.
