Rear-ended 2022 BGTS 4.0 TOTALED
This is what a totaled Boxster GTS 4.0 looks like. Shocking, I know...looks like a little fender bender. $70k+ repairs and that doesn't include having it transported back and forth from Porsche dealership to have the engine/transmission removed/put back in. Progressive threw in the towel after more and more damage was found. Me and the misses are also proud owners of brand new ruptured discs, etc. Thank goodness it was a small car that hit us. Could have been worse. Progressive claims department has been exceptional from the start. It's not hyperbole to say that this car changed my life. Every second behind the wheel with my hand on the shifter and my foot on the clutch has been an absolute joy. She will be sorely missed. RIP

Sorry to hear that and glad you and you wife are OK. Do you have the light weight bucket seat or the 18-way sport seat ?

Glad you both were ok.
After watching Hargarty's YouTube video today of the Cybertruck by Tesla and how much of a tank it is, I am scared what one of those would have done.

OP: very sorry to see/hear of your misfortune. “Ruptured discs” don’t sound like you’re ‘okay” but I suppose it could be worse. I wish you and your wife speedy and full recoveries, and hope you can get back in to a car that you love.

OP, very sorry to read about your ruptured discs (with the misses). Hoping for a full and speedy recovery for both of you.
What has happened beneath the surface that it would cost $70k to fix the vehicle? Was the engine or the transmission damaged?

They said something about the rear tub or the frame. Just pages and pages of damage and labor.

The 17 year old uninsured motorist wasn't wearing a seatbelt and smashed the windshield with her head. Her frontend was banged up pretty good. It looked worse than the Boxster to be honest lol

Very sad to see but glad you and your other half are ok.
I hope you plan to sue the crap out of the other driver.

In a case like this where the person at fault is uninsured, would you file a civil suit?

Not sure what the legal system is in the US but it the UK this would more than likely go to a criminal court as the 17 year old would be driving against the law which would more than likely result in a ban and incur costs to the claimant.

yeah, ruin a 17yr old's life... This is what insurance is for.
Sorry you and your car got banged up, there are plenty of cars.
