Default 718 4.0s at Rennsport Dragon Rally?

Headed out this Thursday for the three-day Rennsport Dragon Rally. I hope to meet some more 4.0s there are put some names to faces. This will be my first Porsche event. I'm hoping it is not a bunch of old white guys in ehite New Balance and fanny packs.

Will update this thread with pics once we have them.

Chime in if you are going and will represent the "lowly" 718.

As long as you aren't wearing a fanny pack.

Don't own one, so far, and I travel a lot. Don’t see it happening.

My first time so I will let you know. Seems to be a good crowd with three run groups depending on how good of a lawyer you have and if you are comfortable posting bail.

There are a couple companies that run these types of curated drives.

I haven’t done one of these 3rd party engagements, but have run lots of regional and national PCNA drives, which are slightly different because PCNA.

Personally, I’d skip the $400 per couple charge and just get a few like minded couples together for something similar. Of course this requires a little more effort…

I’ve found that more than a handful of cars on a “run” yields mixed results.

With that being said, interested in the pics and review!

My Pcar friends and I were just talking about a trip like this during Cars & Coffee. I'd love to do it. We're in NY and all also building second homes in FL. Maybe we'll get there some day. Until then, we'll have to live vicariously through you all. So please post all about your trip.

I have heard people talk about avoiding Dragon due to crowds and instead hitting other, less popular areas. But I'd still want to try it.

HAVE FUN! And please, share your review when done.

Watch out for GA super speeder tickets and also see The Ticket Clinic. Of course I have no experience with either.

Yeah, everyone her in NC knows to avoid the Dragon. However, I believe we will hit it but around that whole area are roads that are even better and less known. I usually do then alone on my motorcycle so this will be new for me. It is three days of solid driving, The Dragon is like 14 miles, I know there are some great roads planned. In a large group like this, there are spotters and everyone in on radio so you can greatly reduce your chance of getting nabbed.

In addition, your money also pays for dinner and photography. I'm going solo so a little cheaper but we will see how it is to hang out with Porsche people for three days. There will be plenty of evening drinking around the bonfire and stories of saving Ferrari owners from their burning wrecks I'm sure.

It may end up being not worth it or I may make friends for life. Maybe I'll meet some like-minded drivers and we can set up our own mini meet next time.

Just installed this so hopefully can get some good shots.

I've had a lot of cars and bikes over the years. So far, I enjoy the people at Porsche events the most. Not that I haven't made lifelong friends through my Pontiacs or motorcycles, but overall, I do enjoy the Pcar crowd a lot.
