Default Right Motul Motor Oil for GT4?

So I ordered "MOTUL 8100 X-CLEAN GEN2 5W-40 5 LITER BOTTLE 100% synthetic 109762" for the GT4 but the label doesn't look right as it doesn't say "Porsche C40".

I think I know the answer to this but is this okay to use? If not, is this an older version of the same oil?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
-Moto

Doesn’t look right to me, and I would not use that viscosity either.

Thanks for the response. I kind of figured. As for the viscosity, it's the same mentioned in this thread..

I just follow the owners manual.

AFAIK, the only C40 approved oil that's currently available is the Mobil-1 ESP X3 0W-40. Here's the AutoZone link for it

It's a C3 oil which is what Porsche requires. It doesn't have the specific C40 approval. 5w 40 oil was approved for earlier GT4's but later models is only 0w40 which only Mobil 1 makes in 0w40 (gotta support your sponsors)

Motul makes a 5W-40/ C40 which is just fine for a 4.0 718 - many have documented using this oil with no issues.
Oddly, the bottle you have doesn’t show “PORSCHE C40” on the label: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...n=109761-M1425

I use Mobil 1 ESP X3 0W-40, found locally at AutoZone. I buy them out whenever I see it on the shelves, so you wont have much luck sourcing it here in the Philly Metro area. The alternative to running around to locate this oil is simply AMAZON: Mobil 1 ESP X3 0W-40 Motor Oil (6 Quarts) https://a.co/d/giE4iOw

So looking at my manual, it says that 5W-40 is approved temperatures above -13F (-25C) so I can see where this weight may not be good for really cold climates. Luckily, it doesn't get that cold in the DC Metro area.

So sent a message to the vendor and this is the response I received:
"You did receive the correct product. Motul has updated the label on their bottle. They do not put all the approvals on the label anymore as there is not enough room on the labels, they would have to have two labels."

I looked on the Motul website and did find that the label is the same as the one on the bottle I received. But even on the website it doesn't say Porsche C40 compliant. Why wouldn't they list it?
https://www.motul.com/ae/en-US/produ...ean-gen2-5w-40

Below is a link to Motul's entire 8100 5w-40 product line and I found listings for A40 but not C40.

I plan on calling Motul tomorrow to confirm.

Have you checked Porsche’s latest bulletin on approved C40 oils?

That’d be more definitive.

Assuming you are talking about this and I am reading it right, this particular Motul shows up in the approved list on the 2nd page until 30/06/24.

Can someone please explain to me what about Porsche engines make them different from those of other cars that requires them to have a different oil compound?

Would my Porsche motor explode if I used an oil of a general quality approved for a Ferrari or Maserati for instance?

This is not unusual. Lots of manufacturers do something similar.

Same with Porsche N tires.

C7 corvettes did the same.

OEM manufacturers partner with Tier 1 suppliers to offer “bespoke” brand specific formulations.

It’s a win-win for the OEM and supplier. Less so for the consumer.

Was that a rhetorical question, if so apologies.

Does the GT4 RS have this sticker by the oil filler cap like my 992 GT3 (same engine)?
