Really. Driving my Spyder is such an amazing experience. Even after 3 years. My daily driver is a highly spec'd Audi RS5, and while it a fabulous car by any measure, it still falls short of that absolutely sublime experience of my Spyder. Who has driven something that is clearly superior all around?

Once you have driven enough cars and get to a certain level of vehicle (GT Porsches are a very good jump off point), there isn't one that's going to make your Spyder 'suck'. Its like food, sometimes Italian is what you want, sometimes Sushi with some Sake hits the spot. People are all naming cars that don't have a manual transmission for example, which changes the engagement equation. Something like an R8 V10 sounds incredible, but it feels softer, heavier, more cosseted than a Spyder. That might be what you want on that particular day. Have you ever hustled a Peugeot 205 GTi down a British B road? That's a joyous experience, super lightweight with 100hp. Driven a DC2 Integra Type-R at full chat through the forest? 180hp of VTEC, you can feel the entire car buzzing in your hands. Lightweight, mechanical, simple. Is ripping onramps in a Mclaren 720S fun? Probably. But its different. Some of the best driving memories I have are of cars because they were a particular point in time and place. My first hot hatch (MG ZR160), my first M3, my first Porsche etc. Context (roads, point in time, immediate comparison etc.) has a huge part to play in how enjoyable a car is to drive. The Spyder as a one car solution is very good indeed, but a garage with a car for every day of the week would also be nice

I think it can depend on in what aspect of the car you want to feel superior with? Ive heard from many that as a track vehicle, the GT3 is just on a different level and cannot compare. The only car that ive driven that is "above" my GT4 would be a McLaren 570S, and as far as straight line speed that car is superior. It also is a pretty fantastic track vehicle..
Personally for me, the GT4 is my perfect car, but i wouldn't be surprised if there are cars out there that would make me ignore the GT4 after driving it.

Anything 458 or newer. GT3 or GT3 RS post 991.1. Most modern Lambos (although they make you look like a right tit), most McLarens…so yeah, loads of stuff, but usually quite a lot more expensive.

As above, not much at a similar price range and MY. You can go to older cars at a similar price for a nice experience. Namely, the rare gated F430 (which can be retrofitted). The GT3 2015-on is also phenomenal but the prices are too off base.
My spot on car would be a GT3 MY18 manual, when it comes to cost/benefit, if one day the prices come to reason for an old car out of warranty.

On the track for sure. I had the chance to drive a 991.2 GT3 RS on track and it was epic. Stating the obvious but it would be harsh on the road for me and couldn’t get anything near enough out of it given how it wants/needs to rev.

Depends. Out of the box, meh. Tastefully modified?... then GT4/Spyders are better... But price no object up to say $350,000 these cars are not even in the top 20. However, at the MSRP they are likely in the top 5. I love my 718 GT4 especially in its modified form but I am realistic about what it is and its baked in limitations. Its a really fun, reliable, decent looking street/canyon racer. I did have a Valet Parker say he would take my car over an F8 thought so there is that...

The Audi R8 V10 is and epic motor, but like what has been said above the chassis is a little soft. The value overall is good though.

Nothing that doesn't cost at least twice as much.

With two kids in college I'm going the other direction. At half the price point, there are cars out there that will make you question why you're spending so much. I just drove the brand new Integra Type S, and I don't think I'll miss my 718 as much as I thought I was going to.
But I agree with sentiments above. When you're behind the wheel it's tough to think it gets much better... and I know I'll have another one someday. In about 4 years.

I think it depends on what you are looking for, ask this question in another subforum here and you’ll get different results.
Also the CTR (and ITS) are absolutely astonishing… really surprised how great those cars are to drive and the inputs are right up there with any great drivers car.

for some of us these cars are like the goldilocks of cars, a drivetrain that feeds your car passion, beautiful styling, just the right size, manual is offered and they are well built and reliable.
I've been looking for over 10 years for a car that I would enjoy more than I did my 2014 Cayman S manual and the GTS 4.0 is the only one that hit the mark
for me everything else either is too big, has bad visbility, has no manual, or is and feels old.
I was seriously considering the R8 v10 gated instead of the 4.0 but in the end they felt old, big, heavy and actually not a huge fan of the gated shifter
I recently paid for a 30 minute drive in a 458, which was always my dream car and when I got back in my 4.0 I wasn't like this sucks, I was like this also sounds pretty good INSIDE the car and I am enjoying this manual way more than those paddle shifters, my car did feel quite slow though!
I do feel like a 991.2 GT3 touring manual might make my car feel a little sucky...but it is bigger and the engine is further away...

There is no other production vehicle made that temps me away from my Spyder. My Spyder makes my 992 GTS feel a bit sucky.
