Spyder Bucket vs 18-way - Broom stick test
Does the seat height change between these options on the 718 Spyder? Can someone who has buckets please measure both the bolster top to the roll hoop as well as the seat surface to the roll hoop when the seat is in its lowest position? Same request for someone who has the 18-ways.
Thanks

I just had my GT4 over at my in-laws, who are extremely tall Swiss folks. I don't know what is in the air or cheese over there, but they are all around 6'4, and slender. I spec'd the 2-ways after extreme consideration to the buckets (the 18 ways never made much sense to me considering they don't have a memory function), and every single one of them fit and thought they were comfortable on the rides I took them.
I know that's not exactly what you are asking, and I will be able to help you out later when I get home from work if someone has not helped you by then. For what is worth, they (the aforementioned in-laws) are also car people and have various 911's and Fcars. For the 911's, they are not fans of the buckets either. I think the buckets look really sweet though!

The lowest position would be with custom cushions in the buckets. The OE cushions are really, really thick. I'm 6'2 with a 32" inseam - so I have a fairly long torso and seat height is usually a challenge for me in race cars, etc. I sat in my car with the lower cushion removed and it was actually TOO low of a seating position.
But generally, I've found that when looking at the "comfort" seats - the manual ones get lower than the power ones.

Thanks Rasputin. If either the 2-way or 18-way do not sacrifice any height than I will consider spec'ng them since they are more comfortable for me. I had the buckets in my 987 Spyder and it was a welcome relief to get out and stretch when filling up for fuel. On longer drives they were just not as comfortable as the 18-ways in my current 992 TTS Cab.

I agree - I have the 2 ways now and had the 18 ways in my last P-car...I like the 2 ways better, and while the buckets look cool they are no match for the others in regard to comfort. If the OP wants an opinion on the buckets I would advise sitting in them, or any option actually, since no matter what I or anyone else says you are the one that will have to live with them.

Buckets are the lowest and lightest, 2-ways are in between, and 18-way have the highest minimum position and highest weight.
The two ways also have slightly plusher bolster padding than the 18-ways to compensate for the lack of air bladders in the bolsters. For me, I’d never consider 18 way - more complexity, more weight, less reliability, and for my body I find the plusher padding and lower seating position of the 2-way sport seats plus more comfortable than the 18-way.
Comfort in bucket seats is subjective, but for myself and most people I’ve driven around, they find the buckets very comfortable and great for 5+ hour road trips. They force you to maintain good posture which helps with long distance comfort.

With my height a major advantage of the 18 way over the 2 way was the extension of the seat bottom for comfort. The other one is the ability to snug the bolsters in tight on the thigh and back - very good for spirited drives. I liked the two way seats, but I do prefer the 18 way seats now. Other than price, I see no downside (the weight for me is irrelevant).
