Default VTS Recall

I just had the first oil change for my 21 GT4 at 6000 miles and there was this line on my invoice. Does anyone know the specifics of this recall? Not feasible?

I don’t know if you got the email, but apparently our cars came with 3G (OMG - WHY!!!!) technology. We’re supposed to be able to get upgraded to 4GLTE for Porsche Connect, since AT&T is turning off the 3G on 2/22. I received the email on Friday, I think it was and reached out to my dealer since I’m taking mine in for the 1 year service tomorrow. They didn’t yet know about the email.

I’m hoping they have it figured out so that I can get the upgrade tomorrow instead of going back again to get it done.

VTS is apparently the vehicle tracking service, from a quick Google search.

Are 2022s not impacted by this? I’ve only seen mention up to model year 2021, and haven’t received an email regarding my ‘22 CGTS4.0.

I don't think '22s are affected....I got the email for my '18 Macan S, but no mention of my '22 Spyder....

Ron - I'm assuming you are working with Bham on your 1 year service. Let me know what they tell you concerning VTS upgrade, but from what I'm hearing, they are also waiting on further direction from Porsche NA on how to proceed, so the outlook is not good.

Its odd because I got the email for my 2018 911but nothing about the GTS 4.0. I can't believe they were still putting 3G into 2021?? 🤦🏽‍♂️

You guys with 2021 cars should be happy to not have functioning tracker/remote kill switches in your cars anymore. I'd be pissed if they tried to upgrade it to make it work again. Messing up with car dash among other reasons.

Sounds like your worry is with someone else being able to track your car. I'm not happy about the tracking function going away because I like to be able know where my car is. If it were to ever get stolen, that tracking capability would be worth it's weight in gold.

This reminds me that I need to check back with the dealer on getting upgraded to 4G or whatever they're doing now.

Yes, I am not interested in car manufacturer tracking the movement of my car, driving habits, speed, etc. This is huge invasion of privacy and much worse than tracking of (smart) phones.

And if my car gets stolen - I don't want it back!!

Porsche Service is insisting replace the Vodaphone (AT&T) 3G VTM to 4G VTM (Vehicle Telematics Module). Do you know where the VTM is located? Does the dash have to come out?

My recollection is that it’s under the dash on the driver side further towards the windshield than the instrument cluster. I strongly recommend against doing it. Mine was done before I bought my car car as part of the CPO process and I spent months chasing rattles. I don’t know exactly what has to be removed but it’s a fair bit. Mine is all good now but I would avoid the risk if you can.

The downside is I used the realtime traffic and it was shut off when the service went dark earlier this year. Yea, I know about CarPlay etc but I prefer the factory interface.
