Default GT4RS Dilemma (Solved: Bought it)

Ok so I want to open this up to the rennlist brain trust. I am pretty sure what I’m going to do but I like hearing your opinions.

So I got pinged yesterday with a GT4RS build in the pipe delivering likely this summer. Production finished - no chance to change options. Guy backed out / economy (usual story)

The major blocker is that it doesn’t have front axle lift. Also minor but solveable is the fact that it has satin neodyme wheels. (not my thing)

ADM - 40k (10k less than I was previously quoted).

However - I’m still on the list for an allocation. Currently 9th - but no confirmation of a slot. This is the preferred path.

Im leaning to the “bird in the hand” side of things right now. What do you guys think?

Who knows though - as I type this it may have been claimed making this post moot. But I’m still interested in a healthy discussion.

Also fwiw - I have a 991.2 gt3 I enjoy so it’s not like I will need to go without a fun ride.

So I caved in. Haha. No production photos as far as I can tell. I’ll be scraping the front lip at the end of next month hahaha!

Exercise your patience, and wait for your own build.

Keep the GT3, and wait for your spot. If it never comes, so what? You have a good car already.

If you're 9th on the list, I don't think you're going to get the chance to spec your own.

I'd take this one, and in the event you get lucky enough to get an allocation, I doubt you'd have any trouble offloading it for what you paid.... assuming the spec isn't horrible

I agree. No telling whether your dealer will get that many allocations. Even accounting for the inevitable back-outs, I wouldn’t feel confident about getting that far down the list.

You could always get the car that’s currently offered to you and flip it if your spot comes up and keep it if not. However you may not see all of that ADM come back to you.

Get the car, if you don't like it you can always sell and buy something else. But owning one I can say I very much enjoy the car. If you had a 991.2 RS it may be different.

How about buy this one, and trade it in when your name get called?

Wait.
If it was MSRP go for it. Since it has ADM you absolutely must get what you want imo.

Is your 991.2 GT3 a manual? If so, and the color combo + lack of FAL aren't deal-killers, then getting a 4RS now for 40K over may be lowest cost of entry for one "right now" for the perfect companion to a manual GT3. Agree with the above that the story may be different if you own either a PDK GT3 / 3RS.

From a somewhat different perspective- for my $220-230K, I would take a pristine non-WP 991.2 GT3RS over a 4RS with $40K ADM-

I had a similar situation and dilemma a couple of weeks ago, although with a GTS, rather than GT4RS. I went with the bird in the hand option. I'm picking the car up on Tuesday unless there's snow on the ground. I may see if I can stay on the list. I'd like to build my own spec since this car isn't exactly what I'd like.

What about offering more ADM to your dealer to move up the list from 9th to the top? If you buy this car you might be motivated to spend money on new wheels for instance, instead put that towards more ADM to get the build you want.

Bingo, that is exactly what I would do. Buy the car and if your name gets called then spec that car and sell the one that you bought.

True but then my effective adm would likely be a lot more. Might as well call around offering 75k adm for a build slot.

Unlikely that the market will drop to losing all 40k adm and you'll have a highly desirable trade to leverage by taking this one.
