2nd service Pollen Filter / AC Disinfection

For real. Once I get my home garage set up and start doing my own oil changes, you best believe I’m sending them bottles filled with spent oil every 8000 miles.

Dang. Did they say anything about providing Lube before bending you over?
Long Beach told me the second service is $2,000 and an oil change is $800. I understand it's a lot of fasteners to change for the oil change but $12,000 for brake fluid and cabin filters is crazy.

Just had my 718 Spyder 2 year maintenance done at Porsche dealer = $875 which included $100 credit due to PCA membership. Included brake flush, oil and filter change and two cabin filters. Porsche of Delaware.

$1200 for oil, brake, and filter changes at my P dealer. $770 of which was labor so pricing may depend on where you are located and how much they pay their technicians (or how much markup they put on labor). I think Delaware is also free from sales tax so I started at an $80 disadvantage. Its the cost of ownership I signed up.

Dropped of my car at the dealer today (2020 GT4)..................
$500 for a pollen filter
$450 for a AC system disinfection
I decide to just just do the Oil change and Brake fluid ($950) and skip the other two...........................
So my question is:
1) Should I care that my "service interval" is not reset?
2) Is there a way to reset this myself?

The Engine Oil/Filter change plus Brake Fluid flush for $950 is a little steep, yet you are in CA, and I am in SC. Still, the oil/filter change is $75 in parts and is not difficult as a DIY. The Brake Fluid Flush takes $45 in fluid and does need a Motive Pressure Bleeder to make the job a "Single Person" task. Yet my local dealer charger $260 for the Brake Fluid Flush.
Some of these prices that the Dealer Service Departments are charging are just plain gouging IMHO.
There are lots of OBD II Scanner that will reset your service interval message, many are under $100 in cost, and will also reset other items, like your SRS (Air Bag) light, or EPB (Electric Parking Brake Calibration)..... I use the Autel Diaglink or the Autel AP200 . Both reset all your Porsche 981/991 & 982/992 service lights.

I have gone to the OEM Mobil 1 ESP X3 0W-40 Oil and found that I need 8 Quarts, not the 9 that they send you in the FCP kit. I have asked my local Walmart to order this oil and it costs ~ $7.20/qt. (last order in Oct. 2022). It took a few weeks to arrive, yet I order well in advance of its use. It has the Porsche C40 rating on the back label. The Mahle 0X366D Filter/O-Ring is the same filter that I use in my 2015 Cayman, so I buy these in higher quantities, and can usually find them on sale in the $16.00 range and buy 4 plus to get free shipping. The Oil Pan Drain Plug is the same as my 2019 Targa 4GTS, and bought a half dozen of these for ~4.00 each from Pelican parts using my 10% PCA discount code back in 2020.
So all in is $77.60, or under $80.00 . The oil is the main expense as the new ESP X3 (C40 spec) is significantly more expensive then the A40 spec used in cars prior to MY 2020, like my 2015 Cayman & 2019 Targa. For this A40 spec oil, I buy the Mobil 1 FS2 5W-40, also from Walmart at $ 24.47 per 5Qt Jug, about $5 per Qt. I know a few folks that use the A40 Spec oil in their 4.0L GTS/GT4 cars as they have deleted the GPF in their OAP. Plus Mobil runs Oil Coupon Specials every now and then for $12 back for each 5 qt purchase.
So it depends on the brand of oil you buy and if you shop around for the sales and best prices. Yet parts wise, it is significantly less than the $450 many dealers are charging for an Oil/Filter change. I'm on a 5K mile change interval so the Mobil 1 0W-40 oil is just fine for my street use.

Pretty hard to find the right oil though on sale now unless you drive a toyota camry. Like, I never had problems finding cheap bmw oil before until my current oil change. $120 for oil and a filter..... and it only needs 6 liters. I was used to paying $50-60.
ESP X3 or equiv. I don't even see in stores; but the Porsche dealership has given me a free liter when I've tried to buy it from them so far.
