Default Magnetic Splash Guards

Here’s how I made my splash guards for my Spyder.
I agree that they’re cheesy, but when I’m at a C&C, I can pop them off in 2 seconds. BTW, people do flip out when I’m popping them and the front plate off, but that’s another story.

These are the guards I purchased:

I used the “B” size

Both places carry them…
These are somewhat flexible too.

These are the magnets I purchased.

I would buy the next size up if I did it again

The fronts were easy, I made a plate and screwed it into the plastic well with the screws that came with the splash guards. File smooth, prime and paint, drilling holes for the screws. The flat plate just needed a slight twist/bend (by hand) to conform to the plastic well. By the way, nothing I found will stick to the plastic fender well, so that’s I screwed the plate on.

Magnets riveted with steel rivets, spacing for 1/4” magnets was perfect, no build up needed for gap.

I added felt to buffer the guards from the paint. Also works as an alignment guide (split works for the fender/rocker registration).

This pic was just taken, notice how clean the rocker paint is after two years.

Not too shabby ;D

Rears mounting plates were harder to make, but not impossible. Sorry I didn’t get a pic of the top bracket and I’d have to pull the wheel off to remove it to get a pic now.
It’s a U shape (open towards the outer side) and the fender well attachment point is tapered to fit and use the factory torx screw that holds the well in place.
The hole you see allows the torx driver to access the factory torx screw.

Tools needed. Along with a hammer, Vice, hacksaw, files and paint.

I used sheet metal, but something like this might be a good starting point

Perhaps this could be used as a starting point for the rears?

Rears weren’t made until months later. Notice how peppered the paint got!
Again,
The hole on the top bracket you see allows the torx driver to access the factory torx screw.

If anyone wants more specific details, PM me.

Here’s a video of how easy they go on.
