GT4RS - Track Setup
#61
On a GT4 I was able to fit 275 Pirelli DH on cstom Forgelines 19x9. These are a bit narrower than a true 275 and keep in mind on a 19" wheel
The issue with the 4RS is the fender cutout, more than the extra mm of track....
We have to wait and see what the wheel manufacturers come up with in terms of offset with 9" width

But unfortunately I think trackies are going to be in the minority except for a few wheel manufacturers, Forgeline, Finspeed, etc, most will cater to the coffee and donut crowd. I called a few and almost always got: their engineers have determined that ..... So why claim you're custom if you tell otherwise.

Yeah...I guess the usual suspects will do actual R&D for track.
They need to find out if the front wheel can be push IN a bit more so it doesn't stick out a lot when adding that 0.5".
On 20" will be a bit harder than on 19" but then with 19" you need the full brake upgrade...more $$$$

Any idea how much wheel width we can fit in these cars? I see that GT4s run 9" in the front and stick to the oem size, 11", in the rear. After aligning my car with just shims, I know i will need camber plates up front to run 265s. But are 275s or even 285s possible? And if moving down to 19" wheels help in this regard?

Been trying to do some research and thought I would ask here.
I’m looking for a set of wheels for the track… what are our options? Some of my favorite brands said they won’t be making wheels to match GT4RS because of lack of production / demand.
Any wheels already out for it? Or companies that we know will be making them?

Your best bet is Forgeline, Finspeed, Litespeed, HRE

I guess this is what we are going to find out about over the next coming months. Earlier this year, I spoke with the BBS Motorsports and they concluded that there is no way their 19" could would fit the 4RS. I will wait and let others experiment on expensive custom forged wheels. So, for now, I'm planning on running the OEM 20's. No part of of the 4RS is going to cheap on track! I am thinking the first tire I will try after the Cup 2s is the Goodyear F1 3Rs - which come in a size that may fit the front of 255/40/20. That will be a wee bit wider and have a higher profile. Anyone know if this will fit?

On the regular GT4, folks have seen clearance issues (rubbing) with larger diameter tires under full compression. That would be my main concern. Also, it would raise the front of the car, which could impact the aero. I would stick with the OEM size, or maybe a 255/35/20 (if you can find anything decent), but go with a wider 9" front wheel. People sometimes fail to realize that a wider wheel by itself will improve overall performance and grip, with the same size tire.
They run very small in comparisons to real world Cup2's.
I wonder how this fitment would do on a GT4rs? Are people running these on GT4s?

I ran the Nankang CRS in that size for both autocross and track on my GT4 with no issues. They run a bit narrower than most.

Burning Brakes
So to sum it up this far, to get rid of the understeer is the -2.5 camber that is obtainable with stock suspenders and sway bar adjustments enough to get rid of most of the under steer? I did my first autocross today with the car completely stock (and tires overfilled) and was 1 second off the fastest time but the understeer in that setting was very noticeable. Im taking the car back to the dealer in a couple of weeks for oil change, brake fluid, and alignment and would like to try to get suspension dialed in. Unlike others, besides brake dust, I felt the pads were just fine with the iron brakes but I don’t have that much time on the car. I may mess with the wheels and tire size in the future once more options are available.

Based on a mix between suspension secrets and a manthey setup sheet I have made the following changes, will report back after Bathurst.
Front - 2.5* camber with 1mm toe in.
Rear - 2* camber with 2mm toe in.
ARB's, middle front, stiff rear.
I haven't played with heights and rake yet (aside from a corner balance with drivers weight in).
