GT4RS - Track Setup

Burning Brakes
If you want to run 265s on the front, it takes the motorsport camber plates to keep the wheels from rubbing on the front fender on a regular GT4. Probably the same for the 4RS even though it has a slightly different front end frame.

New setup seems great, have tyres at 32psi hot all round, very stable and predictible. It is my first Cayman so still getting a feel for it.
Few missed apexes!

The Titanium cage is not FIA approved. Titanium will break whereas steel will bend.

Three Wheelin'
I like how my gt4 feels with higher than factory caster. Even if you end up at 10 degrees I think it’s okay as long as you don’t have any rubbing, so pucks alone might be just fine, but depends on your goals and total package. If running 265 fronts you probably need finer control for example.

Any idea how much wheel width we can fit in these cars? I see that GT4s run 9" in the front and stick to the oem size, 11", in the rear. After aligning my car with just shims, I know i will need camber plates up front to run 265s. But are 275s or even 285s possible? And if moving down to 19" wheels help in this regard?

I did read this in the Owners manual - Maintenance for Track Driving - recommended maintenance includes replacing the centerlocks at 6,000 miles, and changing Rear hubs and bearings at 6,000 miles / Front hubs and bearings at 12,000 miles. Hmmm, probably 3 years / 6 years for me. Bearings are a bitch to do, most techs don't want to do them as preventative maintenance.
Like most 4RS owners who track the car, I plan to overkill on the maintenance to insure long life / no failures. Will probably have changed the oil every 2,000 miles on average (and out to the lab each time for a report). Oddly, there is mention of early PDK service for track duty (still shows as 120,000 miles), but I definately plan to change my transmission fluid and clutch fluid annually as a low cost prudent measure.

the F1 3Rs are my go to tire. But it didnt want to risk it with firment. Went with the OEM dunlops instead. Wanna order a set of wheels but like you, will wait and see what works first.
I guess this is what we are going to find out about over the next coming months. Earlier this year, I spoke with the BBS Motorsports and they concluded that there is no way their 19" could would fit the 4RS. I will wait and let others experiment on expensive custom forged wheels. So, for now, I'm planning on running the OEM 20's. No part of of the 4RS is going to cheap on track! I am thinking the first tire I will try after the Cup 2s is the Goodyear F1 3Rs - which come in a size that may fit the front of 255/40/20. That will be a wee bit wider and have a higher profile. Anyone know if this will fit?

Anyone considering doing a 5-lug conversion on their GT4RS?

255/40-20 will be too tall plus you are going wider....big no-no

On a GT4 I was able to fit 275 Pirelli DH on cstom Forgelines 19x9. These are a bit narrower than a true 275 and keep in mind on a 19" wheel
The issue with the 4RS is the fender cutout, more than the extra mm of track....
We have to wait and see what the wheel manufacturers come up with in terms of offset with 9" width
