Default GT4RS Manual Transmission

Do you think the GT4RS will come out with a manual transmission? They said no with the GT3 then came around. But I can see several reasons why they would not with the 4RS.

zero chance. Not worth the R&D, Not normal for a RS to have a manual, and the RS is for cars and coffee or track imo; back road type people will probably buy a spyder/gt4 or lower more civilized model, so I bet few people checked the manual if it was an option.

I would be so down to a GT4 RS with a manual at normal MSRP price, but I don't see it happening to be realistic. Doubt Spyder RS will come with manual as well. Considering Cayman/Boxster platform may go full electric in a couple years, not sure where it will leave special models at like Spyder, GT4, GT4 RS for next generation. If they will continue to have ICE models for GT4/RS, Spyder then perhaps they will build a manual transmission in the future.

that seems even more unlikely than a future (RS) model with an existing 6MT ...

Not happening. Nor with a Spyder RS as there is no gearbox available. GT3 box doesn’t fit in the new engine installation in the smaller car

Also, I don't think a MT fits the ethos of the car - to extract every single extra second of speed on a track. Not going to happen (albeit perhaps more fun?) with a MT.

Plenty of Porsche models to chose from with a manual that make sense including a GT car but no RS car should get a manual. It’s just anti productive to the mission of the car.

Sure - it's called a GT4.

Never on an RS. At least not for many years.

they said no to the 991.1 GT3 but they had apparently been developing a 6MT for the 911R and as a result of the demand for it on the GT3 the gen2 car amortized the R&D for the 911R by offering it as an option... seems unlikely to happen with the 718 platform going hybrid or fully EV in the next model generation...YMMV

Also, there’s no space for the 6MT from the 991.2GT3/992GT3 in the Cayman platform. Besides, no RS (since the 997GTRS) is meant to be manually shifted as by Porsche. The coming Spyder RS will also be PDK

I voted Never, but only for economic reasons. The logic most of the purist answers above uss is the same logic that said there would never be a spyder rs.

I don't think it's going to be called the Spyder RS.

Sadly, I doubt they’ll be a manual option for the RS in the future. Woulda ticked that box for sure if it had been available.
