I would have the LWBS if the side bolster could open/close/lock into place and if there were some adjustability for the back. I don’t think either of those items would really change the weight.
I’m in 100% agreement with you. I ordered the buckets only because A)They look fantastic B)They help with resale value C) I’ll use it 3-4 track days a year that I don’t run my 981CS. Those 3 pluses make up for their daily impracticality, to me. However, I’m on the lookout for a pair of decent used alcantara seats to swap. I think the benefit from ordering the car with buckets, but then switching to sports for daily use not only saves chiropractic visits but the car’s value by keeping the stock seats brand new.
I'm 5'8" 180lbs. I drove from Mpls to Monterey in buckets. I had zero issues. 2300 miles. I'm not saying this to be a tough guy. They were supportive and fine for 8 hours of driving a day. I'm in shape which I am sure helps but I just don't get the hate for buckets. If you want 18 ways get them it's your damn car!
I am glad I sat in them several times to be sure, which is why I did not order them. They do look cool but that was not enough for me, and I could care less about resale value since every car I order is for me, not the next schmuck.
LWBs = Worth getting in and out of, cause once you are in, there is no substitute. Plus ****, they are sexy and I am vain.
But no comfort access DOES **** me off. I would gladly take the 12lb (or whatever) hit for the ability to not have to pull my key out every single time and hold it while getting into the buckets.
It's actually the only thing I dont like about the Spyder. But mine also has 460 miles on it in 3 months. Tough to get out for long drives with two kids.

funny that's the one option that would be a deal breaker for me - I HATE those "comfort" access systems with a passion ... I actually tore a door handle off of my wife's BMW because the comfort system didn't unlock the door ... their operation isn't 100% and until they are I'll do it the old fashioned way ... even when they are I dont like or want it ymmv
I understand that Comfort Access (and front sensors and... [insert conveniences here]) are not lightweight, but as someone with a 911 that cost less than this Spyder, it always feels like Porsche would take a convenience away and say "It's not a 911, so no." and then build much of the car out of 991 parts.

Is there a more comfortable alternative? Definitely. Depending on the person, we make some trades offs.
I pre-warned my wife when I ordered the car. She is well aware of difficulty with ingress and especially egress. Being a form over function kind of a shoe person, she 100% gets it.
LWBS fits me well. Getting out is just a bit of minor annoyance that I am willing to put up with.

sadly my wife, although a similar shoe person, does not get it!
They are for the most part fine to me. The only problem I had is that they do not support my thigh. So my leg is kind of floating on longer trips. I sat in a friends car with P1 inserts. Probably will get those as the cushion is thicker and helps support my leg.

With some of my wife’s shoes, sometimes she can’t stand without significant discomfort at the end of a long event, and has to literally hang on to me for support to walk. The price of beauty…
Tell her your LWBS is her uncomfortable but good looking shoes. And you can help her out by opening the door for her and pull her up from the LWBS.
