Default Looking to buy my first new Porsche

I was added to the waitlist for a 718 Spyder with $5k ADM. I have not bought a new car in a few years. Is it normal for p-cars to have ADM now?

there is a new Spyder here in San Diego for $20k over. I’m paying $15k over for my October build. $5k is a great deal if you get it.

Yes, if you want an allocation now the going rate is 20-25k for a GT4/Spyder. You being put on a list at 5k over isn't a guarantee(bet you someone will jump the line at a higher ADM).

Hi,

Yes, at least in the US. In years past, I’ve been able to buy Porsche sports cars for MSRP, maybe a small discount or small freebies throw in. With covid supply issues and increased demand, ADM and long waits are the norm now. $5k is really low compared to most immediate allocations I’ve seen. They tend to be $25k+.

Has your dealer given you any idea where you are on their list? It is quite normal for a dealer to take a $5k deposit to add you to their list, or create a demand order. This doesn’t guarantee you a car in any reasonable period of time.

I was just quoted a 15% ADM on a daily driver hybrid. So in the current market, not surprising to see ADM on ****boxes, let alone enthusiast cars. 5K over sounds great if it’s real and you can get the car for that!!

In California at the moment $5k ADM is a bargain. Keep reading from other members that they usually ask around $15-25k for GT4/Spyder allocations. Things may change with the economic status but as of right now that is a great deal.

When I saw that you are in Cali, I thought you meant you paid a 5k deposit to be on a waitlist.

If it is truly a 5k ADM AND you are getting a car in the near future, you scored a fantastic deal!

Are they giving you a low ball offer for your trade in?

brandobot,

If you care for a "Suggestion" ???

Get it in Writing, meaning a Hard-Copy signed by the GM or Dealer-Principle !!!

I can 100% promise you {VERBAL} commitments in today's world by the majority of New Car Dealerships mean Absolutely/Positively NOTHING.

Terry

Unfortunately what Terry said is 100% true. Recently a member whom was promised an MSRP vehicle was slapped with a $15k mark up upon cars arrival. You should get it in writing that they will only charge a max of $5k ADM.

Thank you all for your feedback. I was told about a 2 year wait, which I am totally okay with. I have all the details written in email.

They probably won't be producing Spyders in 2 years and 2023 is the last model run year.

Yikes. They took $5k from you now based on a promise of a car two years from now without any guarantee? You're better off using that $5k to pay a broker to find you a guaranteed allocation now.

Sounds like he was just added to the waitlist for purchase with $5k ASM, didn't see that he put down a $5k deposit. I could be mistaken though.
