Default Unpainted Rear Hubs?

Is it common for the rear hubs to be so light? My front hubs are a much darker gray. I don't understand why they're different. It looks like they were primed, but never painted.

Perhaps you already know this, but all that gray material is part of the brake rotor. The hub is the nasty rusty thing visible only in the center. The gray material is thus a consumable / wear item just like the rest of the rotor.

You can always buy a set of Girodisc rotors if you would prefer a nice blue/purple anodized color instead…

Duh, yes. Wasn't thinking. I guess this is normal then. Seems odd that the front and rear rotors are painted differently. The Girodisc rotors look really nice, but more than I'm willing to spend right now. Maybe when it's time for a replacement. Thanks!.

I've got Satin Platinum wheels from the factory, and while the inside barrels on the rear tires are the same Satin Platinum color as the wheel face, the inside barrels on the front wheels are painted black. No idea if this has anything to do with your question, but at least in my case, I'm sure it was a conscious decision for someone at Porsche who had a hand in it!

Here's a photo of the OEM rear rotor for a 718 from a parts site. I think the gray is a high-heat rust-resistant coating.

Anyone else's hubs look like this? (Second pic is what the other 3 look like) Car is 2022 with only 600 miles. Wheels have been ceramic coated, so I’ve never used any type of harsh cleaner in the wheel area. I’ll ask the dealer when I take it in, but I was just curious if anyone else is experiencing this issue?
