Advice appreciated - GTS or GT4 or 992?

Schrodinger's wing?
Great advice already, but I'm detecting a fair amount of bias in that almost no one is suggesting the 992.
So playing devil's advocate, the 992 is probably the best choice for daily/mild-to-moderate track duty- but as I just recently finally came to the conclusion, the added cost may not make sense to most people unless image is also a factor.
There's many nuances to what I just wrote so I'll try to keep it simple- an ideal car in this situation, to me, would be a 992 S. Exceptionally comfortable on the street and competent on the track. More so than the mid-engine cars. If it were me I'd stay away from the base mostly because of the smaller brakes but they're still clearly capable for most track use, especially with some pads and fluid. But the 992 is a commodity right now and going for absurd prices. Availability has to be a factor as well... so for a 992 S you're looking at least $150k. For a GTS, if you want one within 6-9 months OR don't have a relationship with a dealer, closer to $200k.
Availability isn't much better for 718s, especially GTS or GT4- but still far less than a 992. Probably ~$120k (reality is prob $150k for a GT4...). For that $30-80k, I'm not sure the 992 is worth the added expense unless you just NEED to occasionally put an extra person in the car- or just NEED a 911.
Some people do. They won't consider a "lesser" Porsche. That's just the way it is... and I think Porsche knows it. They're not really holding the mid-engine platform back anymore, because there really aren't too many that cross-shop it. I think us Porsche buyers want what we want... and those of us here recognize that the best sports car Porsche makes doesn't have its engine in the rear.

Ive driven a 992S at the Ring - easily kept up with 991.2 GT3's ... could be a good bet!

I actually have ceramic coated wheels/calipers myself and have even gone as far as swapping out to CT1521 pads to keep dust down for street driving.

Burning Brakes
Coming from a 991.2gt3rs I DD for almost 3 years. I needed the same deal as you, about 10 events a year and a car I could daily. I’m 33 in good shape and the lwb were a pita tbh on the gt3rs and the reason I ultimately sold it and all my friends thought they were pretty absurd especially any women
I went gt4 with sofas (2-way, same weight as lwb) And irons are super easy to clean with sonax wheel cleaner. Literally spray on and hose off and all brake dust is gone. No scrubbing or getting to hard to reach spots.I pick up the car in 2 months!
The 992 is a good choice as far as capability but it’s shockingly boring tbh and just too refined.
I Drove a cayman gts 4.0 manual and thought it was more fun than my gt3rs in a lot of ways so that’s why I pulled the trigger on gt4, needed something slightly more racecar then gts but it was 98% there.
in contrast I drove multiple C2S with pasm and just couldn’t believe how boring the car is, feels like an Aston Martin

I'm right there with you! PCCBs were eliminated in the US GTS4.0 cars in the late 2020 or early 2021 production cycle...something about too high a copper content to meet the latest regulations. My solution was Satin Platinum wheels. They do a fantastic job of hiding brake dust, even after a day at the track!

I have one car only, PDK GT4, with LWBS. Absolutely love the car, every time I drive it for any reason, going to play golf, getting food, anything, I’m all smiles, like a little kid with his new Xmas present. Been that way for over a year now. I did 2 things that made it all worth it. I used to bash LWBS seats, now, I consider the lwbs seats the most comfortable seats I have ever had. 1) get TrackSpec or other seat recliner, adds about 3 degrees of tilt and made a world of difference. 2) add lumbar cushion behind lower back seat pad. Again, these feel way better vs 18 way seats or any other seat I have ever had.

I’m in a similar boat. Have wanted a Spyder forever, but based on current market conditions I don’t think it’s going to happen.
Now looking at the BGTS 4.0. Although my heart wanted the Spyder, my head says the 4.0 will be a much better daily (leather, memory seats, ventilated seats, etc.) I’m on a few lists and I’m pretty opposed to paying ADM so we’ll see how things shake out later this year.
If that doesn’t work out, then I’ll probably look at a 992 or used 991.2 once the market returns to normal. I understand the GT cars will always be hard to get, but as a first time P car buyer it’s definitely frustrating how hard even the “normal” cars are to get right now.

If possible see if you can get a ride in a GT4 or Spider to check out the ride. I was very pleasantly surprised at how comfortable my GT4 is on all but the most messed-up streets. Almost all roads are fine, but I guess that depends on the highways where you live. I was expecting something more similar to my 2001 M3 that would nearly dislodge a kidney at times with its jarring ride.
Also, I live in the Texas Hill Country and the ride height hasn't been an issue for me except on an infrequent road dip or a straight on driveway transition. There are certainly times where you want to angle the approach, but it's not all that frequent. Again, that can certainly change depending on where you live and where you mostly drive.
I've had four 911s; the latest a 2017 C2S. To me, the fun I have driving the GT4 has exceeded anything I experienced in a 911. Admittedly I've still never been in a GT 911 so maybe one of those would change my mind.
The only disappointment I have with the 718 is the aged tech. I would certainly enjoy having the more modern features found in the 992 models, but then I'm a tech guy at heart.

I have a PDK Spyder with bucket seats (will track it soon). It's definitely more comfortable than my Cayman S - 6sp, racing seats - and I just drove the CS back and fort, last week, from WGI (5 hrs straight, just one stop for gas). I am skinny and not young any more. GT4 with LWB would be my pick.
