Gt4 RS or SPYDER RS

Gt4 RS or SPYDER RS
Since the spy pics of the spyder rs have popped up and dealers are no longer playing coy about it I started thinking. If you could get either but could only keep one which would you get and why? I believe the current spyder is one of the most beautiful convertibles Porsche made and driving a drop top is better than anything I think my vote would be for the spyder. That is assuming the actual car is a little less homely looking than the mule spotted.

It's hard to give a definitive answer since the Spyder RS is still testing and we don't know the final specs and design of the Spyder RS. I will say though that I would lean more towards the Spyder RS because I love my current Spyder. First convertible and don't mind the semi manual top at all. I love the top down driving experience and if the Spyder RS keeps that experience but let's me rev to 9,000rpm with the intake noise right by my ear, I'd be all for it. That sound must be so intoxicating in a drop top.
Now, if they mess up on the looks of the Spyder because of incorporating the intake, then of course I'd take the GT4 RS but sadly neither will be an option since the ADM are crazy at the moment. Too bad these two cars weren't available for purchase in June 2020 during the height of COVID purchase bail outs. It would have given me a better opportunity for MSRP or even a little lower ADM.

My poor, ordinary, plebeian Spyder gives more driving satisfaction than I could ask for. It is highly spec'd exactly how I want it, so I will not be seeking out the RS. That said, I need to see what they are going to do with the roofline on the final Spyder RS variant. The test mule looked absolutely hideous. They could put the attachment point for the roof fins back behind the intakes, in which case it would give a nice raked look, even better than the current Spyder, possibly.

Spyder all day, and twice on Sunday. If I were going to live at the track, then 4rs, but I ain't, and as said above...the spyder is GORGEOUS. Assuming they don't mess it up...and I could get past the PDK...but then again, the 4rs is pdk, evening that out.
Everyone is stunned, I know. lol 414 HP is already a damn decent amount for a vert, so I'd even take my regular spyder over a 4rs (ignoring the resale delta). It's pretty damned close to perfection, IMO, and I just started driving it. If they fit a MT in a spyder which retains the current grace, and that 9k engine...best car Porsche has ever made? Better than 911R? For me, yes.

I would get whichever one I can get an allocation. I'm supposed to be #1 for the Spyder RS and #8 for a a GT4RS (got on the GT4RS late after it was announced, wasn't expecting the GT3 motor...)

Apples and oranges; however, I am a vert guy and would never buy a hardtop so it would be an easy choice for me. But if the RS looks like the prototype there is no way in hell I would sell my Spyder to get the RS version.

I'd lean towards the GT4 RS, because I'm just not an open top guy; however, I do worry they went a bit too extreme on the RS with the engine/intake noise (being open to the cabin) and suspension stiffness for anything other than track use or short spirted drives. I personally want a car I can enjoy for hours of driving on the streets without a headache or back pain (wow, I sound old. LOL). I'm assuming the Spyder RS intake/engine noise will be quieter than the GT4 RS (since it's not in the cabin), so if they soften the suspension a bit on the Spyder RS, it could be the ultimate sweet spot. Tough choice.

To me the GT4 RS is more of a hard core track car, the Spyder and Spyder RS are more for the street, back roads and canyon runs... So not at all interested in the GT4 RS.
So between my current Spyder and the Spyder RS, it depends, what it looks like what they do to the current design, right now the combination of the Spyder with the 6MT and the more than ample 4.0l means the RS version has to look as good or better and provide at least the same emotional involvement with the drivetrain, for me the PDK doesn't do that, but long ago I have learned "never say, Never!"
