Would be nice if 2023 cars come with the plug already wired on the rear view mirror base.

The wiring is a $130 option for the 2023s.

Nice looking, great that it can be integrated, too bad Porsche stopped at QHD resolution (2560x1440) when 4K is so prevalent.

It will be interesting to see what Suncoast lists as the cost for and to add the wiring to support this.

I suspect that was to allow more captures on the SD card, but it would be nice to be given the option what to film. It would be nice to have 1440p option for the track and 4K for significant vibrations aka crashes.

Except that storage is cheap comparatively speaking and this camera overwrites when it runs out of space... I would prefer 4K for the track as well. I also worry a bit about the "app'... every Porsche app I have used has been a chore.

Wow, that is pricy for installation ($1500), I wonder if you can buy the Porsche harness and install it yourself?

If that's all that is needed, then this is a great option IMO. $600ish all in for a PnP dashcam solution. Not far off from going aftermarket.

$1500 seems like a LOT of p&l ... I presume that includes camera ($495), wiring harness ($130), and $875 labor? - that's a LOT of labor!!!

Personally, I’m not interested in the Porsche dash cam. I am interested in knowing how the cable might be modified to accept a non-Porsche cam. I think I’ve seen the male end of the power cord’s electrical adaptor and from memory it’s unique (shocker), but that doesn’t mean it can’t be modified assuming power delivery is appropriate.

anyone know of folks having experience with retrofitting the Porsche power cable for a non-Porsche dash cam?

The link I followed in post #8 above seemed to indicated the $1500 was just labor.

That's nuts!

I downloaded the app and looked at the manual ... The camera has front and back cameras, gps, and radar! And in addition to drive mode also has park mode too
afiak it really only needs mount on mirror and power tap so don't see any other integration that might require a more complex wiring harness..

It was monkey and no details of what it entailed.

Trust but verify.
