Nice report Larry, that Arctic grey is quite a chameleon colour.

Thank you Larry.
How do you find the GT4 RS suspension compared to a 991.2 GT3 / GT3 RS? I know you didn’t do a back to back but probably a better reference point given the 992s features and your experience.

also I noticed on both GT4 RS you photographed it has PDLS but doesn’t have headlight cleaners, just smooth finish.
We saw on the initial press cars that the non-PDLS cars didn’t have the cleaners but the PDLS did, which was confirmed in the configurator.

LOL. I'm not, nor do I want to.

Most here know I am moving to the C8 Z06 when my number comes up. Granted, it will be a few years, but I am on the list.

I hope you get one really soon and you become the same level of asset to the C8 board as you are here.

All car enthusiast forums have their fan boi's that view their prized possession with blinders and tunnel vision and can't handle constructive criticism.

Looking forward to the Catalyst lap information...

Interesting comments especially those in red, surprised that the tire dates would come into play, they should be worn out in just s few days on the ring? Foot slipping, aluminum pedals? Finally the PDK, sounds like you were you letting it select the gears?
my car had 2018 and 2020 tires on the front car only had 12xx km on it so was probably only used at one other PSDS event prior to mine - there was no issue with dry grip but on the 1st day in the cold and wet
these "vintage" tires were not at their best!

it seems that Michelin are having some trouble with cup 2 supply, hence a brand new car running on 2 & 4 yr old rubber

I let the PDK-S change for me for the 1st couple of laps, but a couple of unexpected changes later I decided to paddle shift the car myself (which was always my intent since I have more information about 'whats next'
than the TCU brain...

weirdly my foot slipped off the accelerator a number of times, (its plastic not alu) - either my Piloti shoes have "heat cycled" or something else is going on!

Well - watch my (one) lap when I post it later ... especially as I am going down Fuchsrorhe (fox pipe) you can see how much the car moves over the bumps ...

this lap (not my best of the day but the only one I managed to catch on the Garmin) is about 3secs off of my PB in my 991.2GT3 back in 2018 when I did ED.

Overall the 4RS suspension is *very good* but I would say that its too stiff for the 'Ring, and compared to the 991.2 GT3, the 992 GT3 and a 991.2GTRS w/Manthey Racing kit (aero and KW suspension) its
a firm last place amongst those...

The multi-link and RWS on the GT3's really adds an element of stability that is not present in the 4RS with its MacP rear and shorter wheelbase ... I followed the instructor and the GT3RS MR for one lap
at significant speed (I suspect we broke my PB on that lap) but I "gave up" on the 2nd lap as it was a LOT of hard work to keep up with them - both being faster drivers than me, and in better platforms for
the 'Ring ...

all in all the 4RS is epic, I would buy one if I could (but not with ADM) however if I lived nearer the Ring I would get a 991.2 GT3RS and spend $ with Manthey Racing for their "Ring" kit, the combination of
the additional aero and the custom tuned KW suspension setup is amazing!!!

well - ok I screwed up - I was lazy and I should have installed it at the start of open lapping, but I didn't I finally put it in the car for my last 3 laps, and I failed to wait for it to acquire the satellites so I missed
my first 2 laps ... so I need to be a better user I think ...

So the net/net is I didnt get to use its unique features - I basically got a lap recorder with some overlays ...

next time!

On the other hand we have you the anti-fan boy whos every post is something about how the gt4 suspension sucks. We get it, we've heard it a hundred times already not sure who you're still trying to convince at this point.

Never mind, better luck next time I tend to find there is no perfect solution - its frustrating as both logging and video comparison is so useful. It would be great, if you could simply hit one switch/one button and it all happened without a **** ton of cables everywhere, signal drops, suction cups dropping, autostart not working etc etc. First world problems I know.

and dont get me wrong - the 4RS is an AMAZING car ...I would have one in an instant if I had an MSRP allocation... but it has its place in an ecosystem and the 'Ring is not like other tracks - its very very bumpy and
there are a LOT of tricky corners blind, uphill, downhill, off camber ... clearly there is a LOT more in the car than I am capable of extracting ... but it did keep up with the 992 GT3's as well as the 991.2 GT3RS MR ...
which is no mean feat given the relative sophistication of those cars vs. the 4RS ... I have no doubt it will become another Porsche classic icon!

I'd def get a Weissach Package car in Shark Blue, and I love the neodyne collor wheels on both the SB and AB cars ...

watching my last lap of the day I can see I was tired and made some mistakes and also did not take advantage of the car in a few places that would have probably resulted in a better (PB) time...

upload to follow when I get the right cable to connect the Garmin to my Mac ...

yeah a friend bought a Race Navigator while here and ran with it - but I have yet to see the results - just reviewing my last lap on the Garmin I can see where I screwed up and lost time ... so that alone was valuable!

I'll get it uploaded and posted asap ... need the right USB to get it onto the Mac and up to YT!

maybe I'll buy one when I get to FRA ...

I wish the Garmin camera was Bluetooth ... either that or Porsche should put a USB drop in the rear view mirror that comes out in the dash/glove box!!! you heard it here 1st!

all in all - I love the car, and had a great time - back in August for the 992 GT3 experience!

lap will go up in the next 5-24hrs

So here is the one-and-only lap video my lazy *** could be bothered to capture with the Garmin - its my last lap of the day, I'm tired and I am scrappy ... enjoy!

If nothing else - listen to that engine!

Thanks for sharing, nice driving . Loved your oh *** moments

The GT4 RS seems to put the power really well considering that it had the old MPSC2's.
Also looks like the gearing and the GT3 engine allows the car to pull really well mid to high speeds
