I am aware of the website willtheyfit, but from a practical standpoint has anyone actually tried just putting a set of GT4 wheels on a GTS? All the website tells is how much of a difference new wheels will make vs old one way or the other.

Someone local is selling aftermarket OZ wheels on Michelin PS4 from a 718 GT4 for a great price.

Is there significant risk in just putting them on and seeing if something rubs while driving?

YES!

There is no way that you should put wheels with unknow fitment on a car and drive it to see if everything is ok!

The wheel set you are looking at may or may not fit, aftermarket wheels can have offsets that are different from the OEM spec for they are destined for, neither may match what you need.

If you are not experienced in such things you should reach out to a professional shop or OZ themselves with the details of what you are looking at before agreeing to purchase them, great deal or not!

IMHO, there is zero risk in bolting them on and dropping the car on the ground and checking clearance. It's not rocket science. A little info re the specs of the new wheels and tires would be helpful. Offset, total diameter of the wheel/tire setup, etc.

There is a simple formula for calculating the total diameter.

As an example, take a 275-60-20 wheel and tire. 275 x .6 = 165. 165mm divided by 25.4 = 6.496 inches. 6.496" is the height of EACH sidewall, of which there are two. 6.496 x 2 = 12.99". 12.99" is the total height of BOTH sidewalls combined. Add to that number the size of the wheel (20" in this scenario) and you get a total wheel/tire combo diameter of 32.99".

The only difference may be the fronts as the track width could be different between the GT4 and non-GT4 chassis due to the GT3 front axles. We're splitting hairs here, I doubt there will be a fitment issue between the two cars.

Think it’s been stated before that the rears will have suspension clearance issues.

According to will they fit, the GT4 rear wheels will be wider on the inside by 9.3 mm and on the outside by 3.3 mm on the GTS 4.0. Is the standard 10.5 inch rim so close to the existing suspension setup that 9.3 mm would make it contact to inside strut/spring? If so that's a crazy tight tolerance. I think the GT4 wheels would fit fine as long as you went with a 275/35 ZR20 tire (you must increase to at least this width as a 265 is too small for an 11 inch rim). 295s, being 30mm wider than the standard setup and 2/3 of that being closer to the strut/spring may cause an issue. But 275s with only 2/3 of 10mm being closer to the spring/strut should be fine. The higher overall aspect ratio is negligible. (1/3 of an inch) The front wheels, being the same size and only 4 mm closer to the spring/strut shouldn't be an issue at all, especially if you use the standard 235s on the front that come with the GTS.

Just upgraded tires and tire sizes on CGTS. Put on Michelin PS4S 295/30/20 rear and 245/35/20 fronts which are the stock GT4 sizes.

Love the change so far and have had no problems. When I put on the Kline exhaust/oap + headers I noticed more power immediately. The stock narrower tires of the GTS didn't inspire as much confidence and I started to notice less grip and more wheel spin so I wanted to upgrade. After changing, I Immediately feel more planted on the road and improved cornering than the narrower Pirelli's.

Interesting. Did you put thise stock GT4 sizes on your OEM GTS rims? I could see that happening without any fitment issues. It's the install of the GT4 rims that's the issue. More front wheel drive bias (4mm front and 3mm rear) than the GTS rims may cause issues, especially with the rears being 1/2 an inch wider. That accounts for the 9.3mm of added encroachment towards the strut/spring on the rear suspension. Might make 295s in the rear impossible. Which leads to the initial question...has anyone out there tried to fit GT4/Spyder wheels to a GTS?

I have the same question. I was told by SupremePower that the BBS FI-R group buy wheels will fit the GTS 4.0, but they are stock GT4 sizes. SupremPower seems to be a good vendor, so I would tend to believe them, but I do have some doubts.

I use this method to get me a ballpark, but given different manufacturers have different interpretations of the same size, I usually look up the tires' published specs. Revs per mile for figuring out what it'll do for my speedo and diameter for the purposes you're indicating.

I have a GTS 4.0 and just installed a set of these wheels and purchased them from Eric @SupremePower (They are incredible to deal with BTW) and I just measured the rear clearance (stuck a piece of plastic between the wheel and the tights suspension clearance area) and there is about 5mm at the tightest area. This is with the BBS- FI-R wheels with GT4 offsets and 295/30/20 Michelin PS4S tires. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that information. Have you changed your alignment from stock?

The 5mm clearance isn't much. I wonder if it could ever rub in some dynamic condition of cornering, hitting bumps, etc.
