Thanks Ryan, that makes sense for the 8.5" size, so for the 9" wide front as it is about 12mm wider would it be correct that some of that additional width shows up on the outside and the balance on the inside because of the ET 50 offset?

If I am looking at this right you would still the room for the spoke design you describe and clearance from suspension on the inside with the wider front wheel?

That is correct. These Sprint Line wheel designs are fully forged wheels constructed from 6061-T6 aluminum and a 10,000 ton press leveraging our custom designed motorsport forged blanks.

We're very big on wheel education and transparency, which is why our flow formed wheels are called just that - flow formed wheels. We're proud to offer wheels from both manufacturing methods, as that allows us to deliver quality, lightweight motorsport oriented wheels to all types of customers depending on their performance and budgetary needs.

You can visit our website, review the original post in this thread, or watch this tech video we made for more info on our new forged line of wheels:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtPtVEGZaTE&t=91s

We offer both 10.5" and 11" rear wheels, as that allows drivers to choose the best solution for their personal needs. The 10.5" rear wheels are suited best for 285/35-19 and 295/35-19 that run true to size, while the wider 11" wheels are better suited for 295/35-19s that run wide, in addition to 305/30-19.

The 11" wheels will fit any 981/718 Cayman Boxster including your GTS 4.0.

Thank you for the answer.

I went to your webpage and it seems the new forged wheels are also available in 18" that would fit 718 GTS 4.0:

https://support.apexraceparts.com/hc...-Fitment-Guide

Can you confirm? This is very appealing if so. I'd be interested in running 245/45/18 front, 285/40/18 rear (something like PS4), which diameter wise is nearly exact to what stock GT4 tires are (which should fit GTS 4.0).

You don't list that combo on your recommended sizes, but given the sizes you recommend it does not look like there should be any issues?

Also, the 18" are not part of your group buy - any chances they could be included?

Our 18" forged wheels work great on the GTS 4.0. in the following sizes:

Front: 18x9" ET46
Rear: 18x10.5" ET44
(our 18x10" ET36 can also be used in the rear)

For tires, it really comes down to how you plan to enjoy the car and whether or not you have suspension/alignment modifications but the most popular configuration is 245/40-18 front, 275/40-18 rear. Here is some info pulled from our 718 Cayman/Boxster Fitment Guide:

  • APEX Staff Pick: Front: 245/40-18 // Rear: 275/40-18
    • Typically a direct fit, but we encourage a little additional negative camber up front
    • Max Performance Summer: Michelin PSS (300 TW)
    • Extreme Performance Summer: Yokohama A052 (240 TW), Hankook RS-4 (200 TW), Goodyear Supercar 3 (220 TW), Nankang CR-1 (200 TW),
    • R-Compound: Nitto NT01 (100 TW), Nankang AR-1 (100 TW)
  • Alternative 1: Front: 255/35-18 // Rear: 275/35-18
    • A minimum of -2º of front camber is recommended
    • Max Performance Summer: Michelin PS4S (300 TW)
    • Extreme Performance Summer: Hankook RS-4 (200 TW), Dunlop Direzza ZIII (200 TW), Falken RT660 (200 TW), Nankang CR-1 (200 TW)
    • R-Compound: Nankang AR-1 (100 TW), Toyo R888R (100 TW)
  • Alternative 2: Front: 255/35-18 // Rear: 295/30-18
    • A minimum of -2º of front camber is recommended
    • Short rolling diameter front & rear
    • Max Performance Summer: Michelin PS4S (300 TW)
    • Extreme Performance Summer: Yokohama A052 (200 TW)
    • R-Compound: Nankang AR-1 (100 TW), Toyo R888R
  • Alternative 3: Front: 265/35-18 // Rear: 295/35-18
    • A minimum of -2.5º of front camber is recommended
    • Max Performance Summer: Continental Extremecontact Sport (340 TW)
    • Extreme Performance Summer: Yokohama A052 (200 TW)
    • R-Compound: No options currently available

245/45-18 front, 285/40-18 rear is kind of a funky configuration with very few tires available, but it may work just fine. We have no experience with those sizes.

We kicked off this new forged Sprint Line with our 18" fitments several months ago, but the Group Buy pre-sale closed out quite some time ago. As you mentioned, the wheels are now available on our site.

Hmm, maybe funky, but available in Pilots 4s. I was going by stock Spyder/GT4 wheel diameters, and these are near perfect match.

Your recommended front 245/40/18 is much smaller than stock GTS 4.0, not to mention GT4:

F/R: size - diameter

F: 235/35/20 (GTS) - 26.5"
F: 245/35/20 (GT4): - 26.8"
F: 245/40/18 (your pick) - 25.7" (1.1" smaller than GT4)
F: 245/45/18 (mine) - 26.7"

R: 265/35/20 (GTS) - 27.3"
R: 295/30/20 (GT4) - 27"
R: 275/40/18 (your pick) - 26.7"
R: 285/40/18 (mine) - 27"

Numbers per https://tiresize.com/calculator/.

You're not wrong, however, there are many contributing factors aside from trying to mirror the factory tire heights. There is an acceptable range that you can play with when it comes to the difference in height (rolling diameter) from front to rear, and the 245 / 275 combo has way more tire options for track enthusiasts to choose from.

Ryan, the photos turned out great! I will continue to patiently wait for the release of the 20s.

Maybe I should pre-order my tires just in case inventory is low everywhere!

Thanks so much for coming by the office, Kelvin. Miami Blue really is such a killer color for the 718.

Looking forward to getting a set of the 20" wheels into your hands soon!

Well, jumped on your preorder for 19" (9" & 10.5"). Decided these will be the right compromise (vs. "fat" 18" I was considering).

Now to tires. Pilot Sport 4S. This will be more mostly street driven car (GTS 4.0).

Saw your guide. I am down to 255/35/19 in front, but wondering about pros/cons of 275/35/19 or 285/35/19 for the rear. Either probably would be fine. In theory 275 (with 255 in front) should make the car little less understeerish if pushed too hard, but I suppose the differences will be mild at best.

Great to have you on board. As our guide mentions, for a GTS we prefer pairing the 255/35-19 front with 285/35-19 in the rear for a few reasons. The 285s will provide a bit more grip out back without going overboard and without inducing understeer. The 285/35-19 is also a better height from a rolling diameter perspective, and fits a 10.5" wheel very nicely.

I too have pledged to be part of the VS-5RS gang. Very much wish I could have chosen a different color, but prefer not to wait.

Thank you for the feedback. We have some talented photographers and videographers on the team, and hope to continue to improve the content we deliver.

Aside from showing off beauty shots of our wheels on P-cars, we are really passionate about the technical and education side of things so you can expect much more of that to come.
