Did anybody else get an email from Porsche today about AT&T sunsetting their 3G network on the 22nd of February? From the FAQ page at Porsche:
From the email they sent me
I called my dealer, they know nothing about this and will call me as soon as they find out. The upgrade is 3G to 4G also according to the email.

I received the email in December. I immediately contacted the Service Manager as he had assisted me at my last visit. He said they expected to receive the necessary parts from Porsche by month end they would reach out once they had the parts. I didn’t hear anything in late January so J followed up. He said they were still waiting on Porsche. I received an email this past Monday saying they would have the parts on Feb 14 and asked if I wanted to schedule an appointment. I’m taking it in on Tuesday. I would start pressing on your dealer as the 3G service will be ending in a couple weeks.

It will take a few weeks for their crews to visit every tower and remove the hardware, many of them will be installing the final 5G upgrades, at the same time. Heck they said my repeaters at work wont get done till june.. YMMV

Here’s the language from the email I received in December 2021. It’s slightly different as it says my upgrade is at no cost to me. The other posted email says it’s at the owners expense.

I picked up my GT4 today after it spent 2 days at the dealer. I dropped it off yesterday for the appointment to update to 4G. I asked the service manager who was handling the repair if I needed to place the car in “service mode” on the Porsche Car Connect. app. He said “no”. I left and went home to pick up another car to go to work. 15 min later I get the following text:
“Porsche Car Connect alert
2/15 09:12:11
Theft alert transmitted to the Secure Operating Centre.
Plate Number: XXXXxX”.
I try calling the dealer and then my phone starts ringing. It’s the Call Center to notify me my vehicle may have been stolen. I explain to them it was at the Porsche dealer for a repair. They confirm my identity and then ask when it will be done. I said I had no idea but my best guess by 5pm the next day. They iodated my account and I called the Service Manager. He was unaware of any of it. He had no idea how the system works! Clearly not many people activated it when they bought their cars! It obviously works. They ended up finishing my car today around 11. It took them a day and a half to do the update. It was very involved. I asked what it would be if I was paying. He responded $3,500! I’m glad it’s done. I think it’s a decent system that provides vehicle location, basic diagnostics and theft alerts. It’s worth the $400 for 3 years (I think that’s what I paid).

Has anyone received an upgrade for this. I found out that my internet in the car no longer works, although the dealer claims it should work fine and there is no part available from Porsche.

see my response above your question. Yes, I did the update. Unless you have Porsche Car Connect services it will be a $3,500 bill. Cost me 0.
