In fact, up until the 1940's pink was considered a boy's color and blue a girl's color (see entry from the Brittanica below). For whatever reason pink was feminized I'm sure someone made money on the color swap. I, for one, got it because it reminded me of a porsche historical color casis red. I like the color, among it's many attributes it is strikingly different.
