i think one thing that stood out to me after seeing the above referenced GT4 in person (Beaverton Porsche is my dealership too), is that if the car isn’t in direct Sun or really bright light, both Amethyst and Viola look essentially black… even on a cloudy day. I’m ok with that, but most photos online are well lit. Consider googling the color and looking at some of the cars under shade.

Porsche did a custom 991.2 GT3 for Bobby Rahal. The paint & all the CXX options it had was remarkable actually. Probably one of the most expensive ordered GT3's Porshe has ever done.
Purple isn't my favourite, but that car is beautiful. He had it up for sale a while back, not sure if he still has it.

Hi all,
I just got a build allocation for my GTS and I'm on the fence with getting it painted Amethyst Metallic. I've seen several pictures online that are either amazing or not so amazing, depending on the lighting. My wife and I stopped by a dealership this past summer to look at a sample. We took it outside in the sunlight and although we liked it, we didn't think it was worth an extra $12K. However, it was only a small square and not a whole car. I keep looking at some of the pictures online in the light and am wondering if I'm going to regret not getting it. Does anyone in the Maryland/DC/Northern Virginia/Southern Pennsylvania area happen to have a car painted in this color that my wife and I could come and see in person?
