Default What's your oil pressure?

Hi,

I can't believe how low my oil pressure on my 718 spyder around 18-20 psi at idle when warm compared to my GT3RS which runs around 30 psi or so and is much higher when cold.

any thoughts??

thanks

That looks about right.

Check your OM; it lists minimum oil pressure at a few target RPMs.

thanks will do
isnt it weird that oil pressure is lower in certain models? My 2014 TT was much lower than my GT3RS?

My SA told me that the oil pressure reading was kind of like the TPMS and not really accurate enough to convey the health of the engine after I asked the exact same question. He also said there are effectively many oil pumps in the engine due to the design. The GTK manual says that there should be 51psi at 5K rpm's which in my GT4 only happens above part throttle under some load. I haven't looked in the paper manual that came in the gun compartment. Mine is 17 or 18 psi at idle with oil at 239 degrees F.

I went for a short drive today and paid attention to the oil pressure number from cold start to shutdown and saw similar oil pressures as you stated - ~28-30psi on cold start. ~18-20psi at warm idle, ~30psi cruising under light load, and 44+psi under hard acceleration.

I think this is the first vehicle I've ever owned that has a variable oil displacement system.

I'm seeing as low as 17psi at idle when hot. That just seems very low to me. I don't think I ever got above 38psi or so, but then I've also never revved beyond 5K RPM yet. Still breaking her in.

Hey man, i’ve never paid attention to this before. i’m getting this at idle during my pre-oil change warm up run. Is yours also still idle at 17 psi? Same here, seems low.

Hot idle: 17

3K RPM: 34
4K RPM: 40
5K RPM: 53.

That checks what is written above and the pressures in the OM.

Yep. Same. It hovers between 17-19 at hot idle.
