Default Transaxle Oil?

What are the transaxle oil requirements/specs for the GT4? I searched and could not find any for the 718. Since the car had new specs for motor oil (C40), I wanted to check here first. Are there any aftermarket ones that comply - Motul, Liqui Moly, Redline, Amsoil, etc? What is the capacity? Attached a pic below from Dominion Raceway for your time. Thanks in advance.

I used Mobil 1 Delvac synthetic gear oil in my 981 GTS, I can't imagine anything has changed in gearbox/transaxle requirements. 75-90 is the viscosity spec.

Thanks! I believe that is GL-5 rated. Is this the spec required for the 718 GT4?

I would think so, same transaxle as the GTS.

My indy Porsche shop recommended Redline 75w90 NS. I've had mixed results with Redline (one good/one bad) with my previous cars. I was a little hesitant.
Well, it has been 6 months since they used Redline and so far it took care of the 1-2 issue I was having. Current mileage is at 5800.

What 1-2 issue were you having? Was it the occasional grind many have experienced?

Yes. It was the common grind that others have mentioned.

I assume you read the thread, and have seen the latest one? https://rennlist.com/forums/718-gts-...l#post18101078

Someone else said they tried it and it did not help.

Porsche hasn’t made a vehicle with a transaxle in a long time! The 944/924/968/928 were the transaxle cars.

Not true - every 911, Boxster, and Cayman ever made has a transaxle. It's just bolted to the engine in these cases rather than being on the opposite end of the car (and connected with a torque tube, like a drive shaft) with the front engined transaxle cars.

I think the definition of a transaxle is a single unit with the transmission and differential (axle) combined into a single housing (all of the Porsche models above have this). For contrast, a car like a traditional BMW has a transmission bolted to its front engine which then sends the geared power through a driveshaft to a separate differential housing on the rear axle.

The front-engined Porsche transaxle cars send the un-geared power (it spins with the same rpm as the engine) from the engine through a torque tube to the transaxle between the rear wheels (where it goes through both the gears and differential in one). Rear and rear-mid engined Porsches do the same, but no torque tube is required because the engine and transaxle are bolted together and it's not necessary.

Front wheel drive cars also use a transaxle (engine bolted to a transaxle between the front wheels and it's usually transversely mounted). 911/Boxster/Cayman have a similar setup, but it's at the other end of the car (engine longitudinally mounted behind the transaxle in a 911 and engine in front of the transaxle in a Boxster/Cayman)...
