With regard to saving money on car insurance get a quote with a $2000 deductible on collision (etc) and “self-insure” for the deductible. Depending on the state in which you live and how many cars you insure the savings will amount to the deductible in a handful of years. If you don’t get into fender benders (e.g. no tik-tok-ing distracted teenagers in the driver pool, etc.) and/or live in a state where you don’t have to pay the deductible if you are not at fault, paying for the lowest deductible is just giving the insurance company extra profit. Get a quote, compare, calculate the ROI based upon how often you hit or get hit by other cars.
That little ‘trick’ has saved me - literally- 10s of thousands of dollars over the decades.
Last, if you finance, don’t be fooled by the “requirement” to carry a $500 deductible. It can be waved. Usually quite easily and with the ease of doing so, I assume, linked to credit score. No matter what if you tell’em you’ll refinance elsewhere they’ll cave.

Are you sure you want to insure a potentially $130k car with only $100k uninsured coverage? That was kinda the reason I started this thread in the first place.

I am also very happy with Porsche Auto Insurance for my Spyder. Fun fact, they will insure some non-Porsche vehicles also. They wouldn't insure my 458 though.

My agent says that is the max for uninsured motorist property. Also, my build is not even close to $130k; it's $107k.

Of course, however unless I read the OP’s posting incorrectly he’s stating that if you’re hit by a UIM than only your UIM policy pays for your vehicle.
May be that way with his insurance, I’m just saying my company covers regardless of UIM coverage.

Likely just my ignorance of my policy. In talking to one of my agents, he seemed to insinuate what you are saying. But why have UIM coverage if the other part of the policy is going to cover it anyway?

Everyone’s situation is different on both medical and property…ask your agent where the overlap is or what in addition it offers.
