Ok, so here’s something insanely annoying about my CGTS. You exit the car, lock it, go into the trunk and/or frunk for something and it unlocks the whole car which, of course, needs locked again. Unless I'm missing something this makes no sense to me. A buddy says his 992 is the same, and agrees it's a poor implementation. I suspect this is unique to cars with entry & drive. Other than that...bliss.

I think it's smart. Imagine you put down your key to pick something up heavy then close the trunk and the key is locked in there. With the whole car unlocked you can go back into your drivers door and open up your frunk via lever. Lock button should always be the last thing you do when walking away from the car

Yes, BMW's dont do this and hence people lock key in trunk and doors remain locked.

i am not sure of brand , but 10 years ago I was test driving a car and the SA pitch was : he threw the key in the trunk and the trunk will not lock because the car was sensing the key in trunk , so there is already a solution for that

But is putting all that on a GT 718 a better solution?

My E350 also won’t lock if the key is inside. Except the time it did and roadside assistance had to come and unlock the car.

FWIW, my key goes in my pocket when the frunk is open. Just sayin’.

It is the same without Entry and Drive and I agree that it is a much better system that having the doors remaining locked when the trunk is opened. I also like that popping the trunk or frunk unlocks the doors.
