Default Oil temps

So noticed the GT4 run 30-35 degrees hotter oil temp on the street than my 3RS. Any one else seeing 230-235 on street and 250-260 at the track?

Yup. I’ve seen even hotter at certain tracks, peaking at 280F, and ambient was only about 80F that day. 235F or so on the street.

This is a 2021 GT4 PDK, about 6,000 miles. Burns about 0.15 quarts per track day too.

Running Motul 5W40 C40 spec.

I had 261 when finishing my last session at Watkins Glen yesterday. It was a hot day.

Those temps seem to be about average. I will say the harder your drive it on the Street the lower the temps.

I posed this very question myself, and yes, it seems the newer cars (possibly those with the GPF) run hotter. My street oil temp gets to about 235 sometimes, much hotter than my old 981 GTS did. It also reaches that temp sooner. YMMV. Track? I don't know b/c I've not taken my car on the track and don't plan to, but I would expect temps on the lever you are seeing are normal.

My 718 Spyder runs about 15 deg F hotter than my 981 Cayman S did, and the 718 also comes up to max oil temp in about half the time it took the 981.

Yes, all normal.

Done for the sake of best emissions performance.

On track the e-stat helps manage temps.

Sounds about the same as my 981 GT4. I ran Mobil 1 5W50 in that car same as my 991.2 GT3. Never an issue on oil analysis up to the 20k mile mark when I traded it.

I haven't seen this mentioned here, and I doubt it with the experience I see here you don't know this, but if you'd like the car to run cooler on the street be sure to run with Sport Mode turned on. It drops the engine temperature somewhere around 20 to 25 degrees as best I can recall.

GT cars don’t have “Sport Mode”. But if you have a PDK car and select PDK Sport the the steady state temp lowers from 221 to 205.

Aggressive driving either trans will get you to 183.

Technically, if you were referring to the GT comment from @TXshaggy , the GTS is not considered a GT car.

Along the same lines, has anyone temps approach the red warning area? I’m wondering what Porsche considers too hot. I’ve seen reference to 290 being acceptable in the previous GT4s. Seems toasty too me off the temperature at the bearings is higher than the sensor location.
