Dealer Gave Me Someone Else’s Allocation, Caveats?
My situation is unique and I’m really not sure where I stand.
My dealer reached out to me in late June and said he had a cancellation for a ‘22 718 Spyder in V200 status. Said I needed to make a decision ASAP since build date is scheduled for July with delivery in Sept. Naturally, I went in immediately and submitted my build, filled out an application and put down a $5K deposit. He printed out ‘my’ build sheet along with the deposit information along with MSRP selling price and said he’d get back to me with a confirmation. No commission number or anything appears on very simple paperwork printouts.
Next week it’ll be a month and I haven’t heard anything and I believe neither has the SA. In theory the car would be locked in at this point and I even wanted to make one small modification to the build which I’d assume is too late. As grateful as I am to have been extended this opportunity (SA is truly fantastic), my senses tell me to second guess the opportunity. My question is, how does the process work if I have taken someone else’s allocation in a V200 status? Is it a seamless, immediate transfer to me or does it need to go through an additional round of Porsche red tape? Does it get bumped during transfer? I’ve put so much faith into this deal that I immediately sold my beloved 981 BS and now I’m having terrible withdrawals. I feel sad.

We have ordered two Porsches. In both instances the Sales Associate secured the build sheet, v200, with our name on it.
No Sales Manager required for updates or for changes to the order. The SA should be able to provide the status, lock date, and planned build date. It can shift, or course, but they should be able to provide it to you with no difficulty.
The only part of your experience that would concern me is the SA indicating they don't have knowledge and can't provide details to you. That would absolutely have me stopping by and verifying the build.

Thanks for the advice. I don’t want to sound desperate but at the same time I’m completely on hold which is not the best feeling. Went from an extreme high to just not feeling it. I’ll give the SA a call on Saturday. Hate sounded pushy but I think I do need something more than what I was given.
