Over the years, I’ve had probably 6 windshields replaced on various cars (never a Porsche - knock wood). Never paid a penny out of pocket. I’ve also had so many deer “encounters” that I probably hold a record, then there was the lightning strike to our chimney that cost>$25k to repair. All those were on Statefarm. Never had a rate increase, and all our vehicles are still in their lowest risk pool. Oh! And speeding tickets are irrelevant! They only care about claims. I love my agent!
And a suicidal raccoon took out the front of a BMW once that cost >$4500. Again, $0 OOP and no rate increase. And the exploding cow…ate all the apples off our tree and it’s stomach exploded. State Farm bought the farmer a new cow and it cost me nothing (other than feeling bad for the cow).

For me it is much more than just the cost of the replacement glass, IMHO there is no better windshield install then is done at time of manufacture... I personally have had decent luck but know a number of folks who got back sub - standard jobs and even damaged paint, sensors and dash covers... why not avoid the hassle?
