CGTS 4.0.
55 going on 17. I say it all the time.
This is my second Porsche, but first new one. I've always been a muscle car guy, but love so many different types of cars, 80's 911's certainly included. When I finally went to buy one, the driving experience was not as I remembered, so I bought a really nice 996 at age 50. I had a love-hate relationship with it. Ultimately, I hated the light steering and floaty feeling of trying to throw a hammer straight. I sold it for a Cobra. THAT WAS FUN! Then COVID came and I was able to make a substantial profit on the Cobra and roll that into the Cayman. I really wanted to get back into a Porsche and figured I'd get a mid-engine car in hopes of enjoying the driving experience more. And if the roads ever clear up from snow and salt, maybe I can find out!!!
As for money, you gotta save as much as you can while spending as much as you can. lol Plan for the future but live in the present.

40th Bday is golden
Congrats Alan!
25 Years - 40.
I still remember marveling at the 986 back in 1997 when it first came out and thought to myself "how amazing would it be if I had one?" 25 Years later, after working multiple jobs and returning from the adversity of my deployment, I pulled the trigger to enhance my happiness in life and satisfy my inner motoring desires for a Porsche. Who knows what could happen tomorrow?
Cheers, fellow 982 owners.

And thank you for your prior service, Terry.

lnirenberg and Dale Allen,
Since I am the Senior Male here at already 76-yrs old when compared to you Young-Fellows this is my take.
My wife Cathy said I have definitely Grown-Up & Wiser as I didn't go for the New C8 Corvette Z-06 with the Z-07 Performance Package.
Oh, I should mention this GT4 is the only car I have owned that Cathy actually was part of the buying process from Beginning to End.
That included both Mentally as well as Financially ^^^
She loves this Racing Yellow GT4.
Terry

58 and on my second Porsche, both Spyders. Spent a decade as a dealer tech between 1984 and 1995. First real job was as an apprentice tech at Chick Iverson Porsche/Audi/Chevrolet/Lamborghini/Rolls Royce/Bentley in Newport Beach working on Chevrolet cars (almost all Vettes and Suburbans). Was never really impressed by the Porsche cars that were around in that time with the exception of the 930. Lots of broken 944 (intermix, water pumps, clutches) and leaky 911's, quirky 928's. They were pretty slow and very raw feeling to me compared to the ultra modern Corvettes I was working on at the time. Not much different feeling than my '64 Bug to be honest. I remember 1989 Turbo Cabs sitting on the showroom floor unsold for months and months. Nobody wanted them. lol Donald Bren's family bought the dealership while I was there and it went to the crapper due to mismanagement by his son.
My first Porsche was a Carrara White 981 Spyder that I bought CPO in 2018 from Porsche San Diego. I was looking at F-Type R's at the time (almost pulled the trigger on a new one discounted $35K) and stumbled on the 981 in my search. But it was a "Boxster" and I remember how people felt about the Boxster from my time in at Chick's place. Salesman in San Diego talked me into coming down to drive it and I was hooked the first time I took the RPM's up to the sweet spot and shifted into second. I had never driven a car that refined and that perfect before. Ever. The rest is history. Hence my bulky, ugly looking license plate frame that I wear as homage to my start in this insane addiction. Chick Iverson was a legend around these parts for a while. His best pals included John Wayne (they're buried side by side at Pacific View Cemetery) and the Wayne family (Ethan and Patrick mainly) was in and around that dealership all the time. For a 19 year old know-nothing it was like working in Hollywood to a certain degree. Still have an autograph from those days "OU812 Do it VH Style" from when Eddie came down to buy a Rambo Lambo.

I'm 42 now. I currently have a 22 CGTS4.0 and a 21 Cayenne GTS. My first Porsche was a 2016 Macan S that I got when I traded in my manual 335is after getting married. Loved our Macan but my poor left foot...
Anyway, this is the first time in my driving life without keys to a BMW. I never thought that would ever happen, but who knew BMW would stray so far from what they used to be. I'm just relieved and grateful that Porsche still makes desirable cars. And more importantly, I was able to go through the ordering process again and spec out my CGTS just the way I wanted, including a stick shift...

I'm 26 and have a GT4 coming in early April, will be my first Porsche and I'm incredibly excited.
Also have a 2018 Civic Type-R that I use as my daily & for the occasional track day, and a 1996 Mazda Miata that I bought for a grand during COVID as my fun little project/autocross car.

I'm 31 I think (hard to remember at this advanced age). Sometimes I tell people I am 30. I got my '23 GT4 in November.
