But I would be more wary of scratching the chin spoiler going up and down sloped parking lots or driveway. I see a lot of that in nice hotels with multilevel parking.
Yes, I know it is a disposable item but I think that would more likely to be the first damage to the car, stone chips not included.
Honestly, I would be more nervous of paint chips driving cross country if you do not have PPF. But in terms of crime, not even a second thought on my mind. You will be fine, as everyone said, plan hotels with ample parking or AirBnB with a nice driveway.
When driving back from PECLA my wife and I got caught in some bad weather and had to stop in some random town just off of I-5 for the night. We found a Hampton Inn and the guy behind the desk let us park overnight underneath the front canopy where he could keep an eye on it. Actually, he asked if we'd park it there because with little else to do he wanted to ogle it overnight!
tel:17448382]17448382]I[/url] don't want to get into a political discussion but here in Atlanta violent crime is up 50% and arrests are down 40% in 2021. We have had 58 people murdered so far this year, usually two or three a night. There are a lot of shootings lately, mostly around the hookah lounges and Black night clubs late at night. If you come to PEC the area around the PNA HQ is safe and there is a hotel across the street. The areas around the airport are generally not good. Areas to avoid at night are Buckhead Village, Pharr Road, Piedmont Road down to Cheshire Bridge Road, Downtown Atlanta, the areas between downtown and the airport and the Old 4th Ward. There have been a few shootings on the freeways lately, mostly people shooting at each other late at night after leaving clubs and a couple of rappers who were run off the road and robbed. Street racing is pretty bad at night around the City, do not get involved with your new Porsche as they just changed the law here so they can take your car if you are involved.
I live on Edgewood in the heart of Old Fourth Ward and I’m a 54 year old native of Atlanta’s suburbs. Fifteen years ago I couldn’t find Old Fourth Ward and Inman Park on a map if you paid me. If I had come here I would have left immediately because it was sketchy AF. Today it’s one of Atlanta’s most vibrant neighborhoods and a destination for people all over the city. Fear monger all you want. Crime may be up marginally from historic lows but all the neighborhoods you mention are safe.
And you seem to have gone out of your way to map out neighborhoods populated by people of a particular skin color.

Enjoy your trip...but be relentlessly street smart. I stopped for gas in my 997 a couple years back off I-20 west of Atlanta around 10pm. As I got out of the car a guy emerged from the shadows of the gas station and walked over to the passenger side of my car. He informed me that he liked the car and was going to take it. I lifted up the front of my shirt to show my handgun. I told him come around to my side but that we weren’t going to fight. He looked at me for a moment then said “cool” and walked away. I left without getting gas.
I’m a retired Federal Agent and Miami cop before that so maybe it’s more second nature for me to be aware of surroundings but if I hadn’t noticed that guy he would have been up on me with an entirely different outcome. These cars draw a lot of attention, not all of it good.
Hence my comments above about situational awareness.
While I don’t believe everyone needs to be armed in this country (not like the last time I was in Argentina and had to hire private security) I have maintained my CCP for 20+ years including constant practice and drills and routinely carry when traveling (where reciprocal agreements are in place). When in GA I convert to open carry and it’s served me well a couple times where some sketchy people took too much interest, right up until they saw the shiny stainless M&P 5” competition race gun on my hip. I used to do IDPA and USPSA so it’s a serious looking sidearm. If I’m gonna open carry I want them to see it .
like I said, I don’t think anyone should feel the need to carry, crime just isn’t that widespread, especially if you’re careful but if you have the tools AND TRAINING why not take advantage of it? Especially when you’re high profile like in a shiny new Porsche or when I was boat racing and driving rolling big, high performance billboards up and down the gulf and east coast.
I thought about that, too. Timing probably won't work out for me to do PECLA delivery, but if it does, I'll have to look into it. I saw this thread where people talked about that post-PEC delivery...
Hi OP, I am doing my PEC LA on July 16th. I am planning a road trip to drive back to Seattle. I looked at the PECLA ppf thread, and I found a very good (based on their Instagram posts and a recommendation from a fellow RL member) local shop that can do ppf over the weekend. So basically after my delivery on Friday, I am driving to their shop so they can work on the full ppf. I will pick it up on Monday then start my road trip. I will spend my weekend with friends and family in LA.
I will start a thread to document my road trip so stay tuned. I generally chose nice hotels and larger towns or tourist towns. There is a website called: roadtrippers.com, which I found very useful.
