Default GT4/Spyder Launch Control

Has anyone used the Launch Control feature with the manual transmission in a GT4/Spyder? I am wondering if it would be worthwhile to utilize on the start at autocross.

Find an empty parking lot this weekend, set up a cone or two at an appropriate turn entry distance, have your buddy time your turn entry with and without LC. Repeat at least 3X.
Your own data points will likey be better than the opinion of others.

Edit: Having said that, I haven't tried LC on my car in 1,500 miles.

I went to an Autocross seminar a few weeks ago and heard that most courses are designed in a way that makes launch control unnecessary.

I’ve tried it once, and it didn’t really make a difference, but then again, I’m a beginner, so my time varies a lot from run to run.

I’m guessing that repeated use of launch control is not great for your clutch or tires.

Do you actually have to engage launch control in the MT car or is it just naturally there due to the stationary rev limiter? Does disabling ESC or TC change the behaviour?

Launching a car hard at autoX is not worth the extra wear and damage risk generally unless 1) it's a pro-solo format event and/or 2) you are such a skilled and competitive driver already that you are consistently finishing top 10 on index/PAX every event.

TC ON is a requirement for LC on a manual. It launches at 5000 RPMs.

I found launch control to make a significant difference in my times last year, but that was in a 2.5 718. I'll try it this year (next weekend!) with my GT4 and see if it makes a difference.

Launch control is something that I was not aware was available in my Spyder until reading through the Owner's Manual. My concern as to abuse is the clutch not so much the tires.

I’ve tied it three times. Lots of wheel hop. Maybe I let the clutch out too fast. Works MUCH better on PDK cars.
