Can your Dealer send you a screen shot of the Stop Sale notification? Should outline what the new issue is...

Is the car titled in your name? Not that you want to force the issue until this is resolved, but I don't see how they can refuse to give you the car if you've paid for it and it's in your name.

Your boat is slightly different as you’ve paid for and own your car. If I was you, I’d stand in the showroom and call the police tomorrow early afternoon and let them handle it in front of all the customers. If they have a good reason to hold your car they can provide it to the police. And since they won’t provide a reason...

I’m starting to think this is serious. If it was something small they would have said what the issue is.

Let for example assume that the issue puts the occupants of the car in danger or others on the road, the dealer may be legally obligated to hold the car...

My SA says that although I own the car, the PDI can't be completed without resolution of the stop-sale. If I take possession of the car & drive off, I will invalidate the warranty.

if it’s a safety issue, they should say so.

Agreed, better safe then sorry as the saying goes.

It is a bummer, but better to have it officially taken care of so you can drive without concerns, right?

Maybe, but I think unlikely. If that were the case then declining service for worn brake pads, tires, or a burned-out light bulb would have the dealer impounding half of the vehicles they service! Again, may not be worth pressing the issue at this juncture, more a matter of principle around personal property, etc.

That's standard, not an extra cost option.

I just got an update from my SA, mostly just reaffirming the scope being 172 cars in the 2021 GTS, GT4 and Spyder model range. The bulletin they received does not specify what the issue is. However, it says a remedy is currently "in clarification" and will be published as soon as it's available, and further states "Vehicles may only be driven for loading and unloading purposes in the transportation chain. Further use is not permitted. Test drives are to be omitted...". Based on this verbiage he seems to be thinking it's emissions related.

Thanks for this update. This helps explain why my SA cannot seem to get any more information - they aren't getting any from Porsche - and was thinking it was a quality control-related issue.

Hmm, it does seem like there are multiple things going on LOL.

Here's the wording from my sales manager:

Yes your vehicle is one that is affected by this stop sale. The good news is that by the time it gets here we should hopefully have more information. At this point the only internal information says that we cannot deliver any 718s with the 4.0L engine until after additional quality measures have been carried out. I have not seen this very often but Porsche is very careful. If they think there is any chance there will be a problem with the vehicle they will do this until they check them all. At this point I am not sure what they are checking them for.
