Extremely low inventories
Hi all,
I'm rather new here. I've been looking to purchase a new GTS 4.0, I can't even find single one in the New England area to test drive. Also very low 911 inventory. Strange going in to the spring season. Plenty of SUVs though which I have no interest in. What gives? Is it because Porsche has de-prioritized sports car production in the face of chip shortages? Thanks!

I think it's covid shortage with normal/increased demand. My local dealer was saying it was a multi-month wait to get an allocation for any new 911/gt4/spyder. They're not even building dealer cars because every time they get an open slot there are people already waiting in line for the build.

Hi there. New here myself, but have found this is certainly the case. VERY little in the way of Porsche sports cars and now exacerbated by the fact that spring is on the way and people are in full force buying up new and used inventory.

FWIW, even many of the M2/M2 CSs seemed to suddenly get snapped up all at once a few weekends ago. Visit to dealers this weekend, SA told me they were only getting 1-2 GT4/GTS allocations "for the rest of the year", at least until final quarter allocations are revealed. Porsche Chantilly has a manual. Chalk GTS on the floor if you're interested.

McKenna Porsche in Socal has a GTS and GT4 available, just not sure if they would be to your liking

New Country Greenwich Porsche by me has a Chalk GT4. Give Gregory Ashukian a call there. Great guy, knowledgeable, kind and friendly. Sold me my Macan GTS and my father a 911.

Try harder.
Also, capacity for Porsche sports cars is limited and inelastic. And every one they make they sell. Every 911 or 718 sold into growing Chinese market is one less available for RoW and N.A..

A few years back I was looking for a Golf R and there were only a handful of new ones left in the country, maybe 8-10, so I had to call all over the country. Every single dealer was at sticker or slightly below. I paid $1,500 under on a car that stickered for about $38.5k IIRC. McKenna VW is SoCal had one. Their asking price? $15k over. I literally laughed into the phone at the salesman until he hung up on me.

What do you mean by "put your order in"? If your dealer had an allocation now, it would be for a '21 MY, and delivery would be May/June. For Aug/Sept, that would be a '22, which there are no allocations for yet.

Just for reference, for the 2020 model year, new 2020s were still being delivered to customers in Sept and even Oct 2020.

I'm guessing that they had an allocation, or he did an order demand. I heard rumors that after March most items will be MY 22, but I'm not certain. I've had an Order Demand in for 3 weeks now, I'm next in line, but I haven't heard anything yet sadly....
