Default 718 Roll Bar/ Harness for TALL people

Hi All,
I'm looking for any experience from tall drivers and fitting a roll bar/ harness into the 718. I have a 718 GT4 with LWB fully back and fully down. I'm 6'4".

I know there are other threads about bars but I need specific feedback from tall folks. Most bars say something like "minimal impact" or "full travel."

This is what I know so far and from the different companies:
BBi - minimal impact results in abut 2" of interference
CMS - Got in touch with them and they said no issues with 981. For the 781, they've had 1 comment about reduction but they haven't been able to recreate it.
Cantrell - Their site says "works with factory seats" but nothing specifically about full seat travel. My shop is checking with them.
GMG - doesn't look like they are selling anymore (maybe due to comments about harness angle?)

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Thanks,
matt

Can you even fit into the car while wearing a helmet and not hit the roof?

Yes, of course. It's my third Cayman (987, 981, now 718). Had a 991.2 and had the same legroom and headroom.

What about a hoop with no bar, and then some Brey Krause harness mounts?

It would look like this.

EDIT - fixed the "this" link.

I'm not as tall but have a "long" torso. No issues with the Cantrell and LWB seats. I did later add front seat risers.

I'm 6'2" and have the CMS bar in my GT4. I don't have the seat 100% of the way back, but pretty close. The CMS bar allows the seat to go pretty far back, if not 100% of the way back, and it's a really great design.

What I will caution you about is the sub harness bar... I like to have my seat 100% of the way DOWN to the floor (no incline, or height in any way). My BBi sub bar won't let me bring the seat back far enough unless I've put just a slight touch of seat height. I've gotten used to it, but was kind of a bummer.

I've got the same problem, at 6-4. I already feel cramped in the GT4. Had to move my seat forward in my 991. Anyway, been looking at this one, because it looks like the least obtrusive I've seen so far. https://www.fvd.net/us-en/HEI9820010...-included.html

That solution's harness bar looks kinda high... I wonder if it'll keep the proper harness angle from your shoulders (maybe at 6'4" it'll be ok? )
Otherwise , nice bar!

That is a Heigo bar. There are several pics in the 981 GT4 forum that show it installed and show what it looks like when viewed through the rear view mirror. I had it in my old 981 GT4. While not as tall as some of you I had to route my harness through the upper seat holes. It still had a little upward angle but overall it wasn't too bad.

^ This definitely looks like an option if the other harnesses end up not working. I think the angle would be right too for us tall folks! Thank you

Do you mean you have the CMS bar but the BBi submarine bar? Good to know because my seat is all the way down.

This is definitely a back-up solution. Hadn't thought of separating the bar from the harness. Thanks!

Exactly. The issue is the BBi bar doesn't let me keep my seat all the way down. It only has to go up a super slight amount, but ideally I wouldn't have to do that.... Oh well.

Thanks for the feedback and ideas. Very helpful.

Below is a photo of where my seat is positioned, lined up from the front edge of the height adjustment to the frunk/trunk release. It would be great to see images from people with various harness bars with the deat fully back and fully down. Especially interested in the most cited companies like BBi, CMS, and Cantrell.

Just an update.

The BBi bar and submarine bar results in no loss of legroom or headroom. I had this installed abut a week ago and have already done a day at Laguna. Seat goes fully back and down.

I did try to get more info about the CMS bar but never heard back from them.

Hope this helps others.
